Exploring the harbour area of the city of Malaga 📷 Spain

My tour today starts by crossing the Plaza de la Marina towards the port area of the city, where, already in the distance, you can see some beautiful buildings.

At first I didn't think they belonged to the port, but then I read the signs and posters and discovered that they did.

What you see at first glance are some columns with a very beautiful architecture. There are 4 columns that form the entrance to this area that belongs to the port and where there used to be a sculpture in the middle of them called the Sculpture of Elena Laverón.

The columns stand imposing and can be seen from a great distance.

Once I cross the avenue of Manuel Agustín Heredia, I come across a building belonging to the International University of Andalusia and two very beautiful sculptures.

20240409_162709.jpg

One of them is the José P. Rizal Monument, which was a gift from the people of the Philippines in memory of the friendship between that nation and Spain. Rizal was a national hero in the Philippines according to the plaque next to the monument.

Nearby is another sculpture, which caught my attention, called Cubipod. These blocks are used in dams and to protect riverbanks.

They are made of concrete and, according to the plaque, were used for the first time in the dike of San Andrés and for this reason the city received this award for its innovative work.

A look around the site gives me a view back and also to the promenade or Muelle Uno.

As I turned around a large building belonging to the port authority was in front of me.

Of great architectural beauty and excellent state of preservation, it stood imposingly.

I enjoyed walking around it and appreciating its façade, the details and the clock on top of it.

The sun illuminated it perfectly and its entrance with the three arches at the front give it a very distinguished style.

Behind it there are other buildings, but access is no longer possible or it is a guarded area.

From whichever angle you look at it, it is imposing and stands out in the environment in which it is located.

Very close to this building is a roundabout providing access to the port, although there are also other entrances.

20240409_162930.jpg20240409_163028.jpg

In this case, this is the most eye-catching and the one that has, in addition to the Spanish flag, monuments and sculptures that allude to maritime motifs and are marvellous.

The views of this area are spectacular, both from a distance with the palm trees in the background, and when you get closer and see each of the parts that make up the roundabout.

I continued my tour around the back of the huge building and continued in the direction of Avenida Heredia.

20240409_163407.jpg

I was able to admire this beautiful sculpture and water fountain.

20240409_163454.jpg

Also some parts of the building belonging to the university mentioned above.

20240409_163523.jpg

From a distance I could see these other facilities belonging to the port. Then I continued the tour to see what other surprises I could have.

On the same avenue is one of the bus stations, walking a bit further west.

Although the biggest station is in another place, in this sector they also sell tickets for buses that go to the villages, for example.

There you can see different maps, routes and places around Malaga city. This is the case of a very beautiful village called Rincón de la Victoria.

You can also see the different lines and the areas they go to. There are always a lot of people.

If we look to the right we can see the Avenida Heredia and the large amount of traffic that circulates at all hours.

The buildings in the area, although some are old, many have been properly restored. I have seen that in the years that I have been here.

20240409_164009.jpg

As access to the port area was not possible because it was a prohibited area, I was able to view it from afar, but it was still very attractive. There are several car parks with different motifs.

On several occasions I crossed the pavement to get a better view of the route and then crossed again.

Just at another access to the port there is another roundabout with a monument to Manuel Agustín Heredia. I went around it to be able to observe it.

I crossed the avenue again to be able to admire more closely, as far as I could, this other entrance to the port area. I really like ports and boats, I didn't want to miss anything.

I walked a bit more along this place trying to see more, until this area was over.

20240409_172431.jpg

The cranes are imposing, even from a distance, as are the storage silos.

They are always working on the port, improving it and it is always moving.

You can see a lot of life every time you pass by, both merchandise ships and cruise ships, as well as the many vessels that come to the city for various reasons.

Thank you for joining me in this exploration that I enjoyed so much. Best regards to all and see you next time.
Amonet.

The pigeon: "Can I be in the picture? I'm also a monument" -and she's posing as a diva 😎- haha

Access forbidden to people but not to that flock of birds 🐤

This time I will be brief and I will not talk about the text, very good photos, better every day. Although it may seem strange I liked the ones of the bus stop. They are places that bring me very good memories. A big hug @avdesing.
