Bao Cap Cafe - The coffee shop recreates the subsidy period

Hello everyone, today I want to introduce to you a cafe reminiscent of the "subsidy" period in Vietnam. Different from the modern European and Korean style cafes that I recently wrote about, this cafe is decorated in a 100% standard Vietnamese style, recreating the difficult times of my country. “Bao Cap Café” is a unique cafe that will take diners on a nostalgic journey to the era of central planning, a period that lasted from the mid-1960s to the mid-1980s in Vietnam. That was the period when free trade was banned and the state took on the role of complete economic executive. Workers and farmers and other classes in society were paid by stamps, and when the time came, people would bring the stamps to state-owned trading stores to exchange for food and provisions. The space and décor of this cafe are arranged to evoke the essence of the time, with old chairs and faded patterns reminiscent of a bygone era..

Upon entering Bao Cap Café, one is immediately transported to a different time. This quaint cafe has many blue windows combined with moss-speckled yellow walls, a corrugated iron roof and green painted doors. Don't misunderstand that this house is inherently old, the owner of this cafe deliberately decorated it like that to recreate it in the most authentic way. The décor is peppered with relics of the past – from water pitchers and bicycles to floral curtains and vintage radios. Each item tells an ancient story, inviting visitors to reminisce about days gone by. Bao Cap Café emphasizes simplicity in design, with dim lighting and old furniture giving a nostalgic feeling, and yellow lights creating a warm, family-like space. It is a place where memories are cherished and conversations with friends flow freely. Bao Cap Café has an extensive menu of coffee, tea, smoothies and fruit juices. Whether you're looking to enjoy a strong cup of coffee or a refreshing fruit smoothie, I think this place will meet your criteria.

You can find "legendary" objects associated with the childhood of the 7x and 8x generation such as thermoses, bicycles, flower curtains, commune speakers, old tea sets, sewing machines, radios, etc. all are old. Although this beauty is old, it is always attractive to those who like nostalgic spaces and want to rediscover the historical period. It is not only where we can feel the life of the old days, but also how many emotions are contained in each scene.

The overall ambiance of the café is one of reminiscence, with each corner adorned with memorabilia from the bao cap era. The interior layout resembles that of a typical living room from that time, inviting guests to relax and unwind. Each scene in this "Bao Cap" cafe helps diners, especially the younger generation, understand the hardships, difficulties, and deprivation in the life of each family during the subsidy period.

The slogan "Don't be lazy to work" is hung on the wall to remind everyone to work hard. The young generation of Vietnam must be grateful to the national heroes who sacrificed their lives to protect the country.

With an average drink price of around $1 - a reasonable price and not at all expensive.
