[Week 165] Stop that, please.

[Week 165] Stop that, please.

When I read @galenkp 's proposals for this weekend, I asked my wife: "What would you say are the sounds that annoy me? " And she burst out laughing. That was a good sign, and I said to myself: "Yes, I'll write about this.

For several years now I've been educated about sound at large events. Such training involves theoretical material on the characteristics of sound and also taking care of our main resource to keep exercising it: our hearing. All this will improve the criteria as to what is well configured and equalized. I am not a master, but at least I have a good base. So, the issue of annoying sounds has become more important to me.

I think I have a weakness with repetitive, high-pitched sounds, and it will increase my discomfort if they are the product of carelessness or indifference. In fact, sometimes I seem to be the only one who is uncomfortable.

Sleep with the tap of a fan. Is a delight when they are new. you feel like nature has come to your rescue on those hot nights in someone else's house or in a coastal area. But everything is ruined when it has a noise that originates from one of its parts when it reaches a specific place in the middle of its swaying. And everything is silent! We are all supposed to go to sleep. That's why for my ears that sound is enhanced. It goes from being a Tack.... Tack... " to a "Booom!.... Booom!... " Impossible to sleep with that. As turning it off will solve one problem but will create another, the wisest thing to do is to leave it fixed, oriented to a strategic place and we will be able to sleep pleasantly.

Another annoying noise is the dripping of a faucet, either due to a defect or carelessness. It usually hits some firm surface, either the bottom of the dishwasher or some dishes to be washed. Blick... blick... blick... That feels like a nail in my eardrums. Whether I'm reading, studying, writing, talking or trying to sleep, that sound takes away my peace. What if the drop is falling on some water? The sound is worse. So I try to stop it, either by turning off the faucet or by making the drop fall in such a way that it doesn't generate noise.

Both sounds are annoying because they are repetitive, high frequency and sometimes caused by what we do or don't do. It is similar to someone at fixed intervals lightly pushing you in the side, please leave me alone! I don't know if maybe it has to do with something going on in the brain from being repetitive in a specific number of seconds. Has it been good or bad that I have fine-tuned my hearing? Could it be that I am becoming more crafty because of that training or because of my increasing age?

What was the one thing that made me hesitate about taking this topic for the weekend? Disclosing it to my friends. I hope next time I visit your house you won't use this information against me and we'll continue having our nice friendship and a good weekend. See you next time!

I asked my wife: "What would you say are the sounds that annoy me?

I expected your next line your wife said would be, me asking you to do chores around the house!

Just kidding...Those noises when sleeping, noisy fans, dripping taps and so on are very annoying. I sleep lightly, meaning the slightest noise wakes me up, and once awake it may take me some time to get back to sleep...that's not cool because a lack of sleep turns me into a grizzly bear during the day, especially when it's really hot, which is when those bloody fans are needed!

Anyway, you've done well on this one, selected two annoying noises I also find to be annoying.

All the best and have a good weekend.

Well, I think the time will come sometime to disclose in the community the household chores that we men usually do, either on our own or when asked to do so. There it is! Here's a tip for the coming weeks @galenkp 😅.

I had the fan thing fresh in my mind because we visited a very hot coastal town last week. And in the room where we stayed there was a fan (which by the way didn't have the grille on the front) and we left it on to avoid noise at night. When we needed it most! Just as you say.

A pleasure to prepare this content on weekends. Regards 🙌

You mean a topic idea? Good plan, I'll get it done...but it could be a short list for most men. 😀

Ticking fans man, they drive me bonkers so that was a good one to write about. Now...I'm off to get that topic written.

I think I could sleep through an earthquake to be honest. I also fall asleep very quickly so little noises tend not to bother me. I understand what you mean though and can empathise.

How difficult it is to see a person sleep peacefully while we find it difficult. Of course, I must admit that I have sometimes been on one team and sometimes on the other team. So I can only congratulate you and be happy that you are enjoying one of the best pleasures in life. By the way, one of my brothers was not awakened by an earthquake. I think that will be for another post. Greetings @becca-mac

I don't think I've read an earthquake post yet, I'll look out for yours about your brother.

The noise of a dripping faucet bothers all women heh heh heh heh I can't sleep with that noise it really torments me, the fan noise is more passable it is preferable than the mosquitoes and the heat.

The fan seems a necessary evil on those nights when mosquitoes and heat torment us. It is a fortune when they are new and can spin noiselessly. If not that kind, well, another plan must be executed. Regards @gabilan55
