In our face-to-face life, a good reputation is something of great value. So it is logical that we also seek to have it on our blockchain. And the creators of Hive have decided to have a numerical scale called reputation associated with our profile. But is it everything? I want to talk to you about that. Please join me.

You probably know that next to our profile name we have a two-digit number that is called "Reputation." We could say that the higher that number is the higher your good reputation on Hive. How do you increase it? Simply put, by the votes your posts and comments receive. But this post is not to give you details about this calculation.

So when we want to increase our reputation number value, we try to make good content, comment and interact. Little by little we will be seeing this number grow and we will be happy. Is the most important thing here? Just like in accounting, sometimes a number doesn't tell us everything. It is more important what that number means, what that value tells you.

I have seen with admiration those who already for years had a reputation above seventy. So when I reached that digit a couple of years ago, I was very happy. Now to see me double digits higher since last week is a source of satisfaction for me. Each one of us knows how much effort we have put into creating our name and personal brand in the blockchain, what we have had to learn, what we have had to leave behind, what we have rejected, etc. So seeing how far we have come since we came in here is a cause for joy, without comparing ourselves to others.

In my case, I can be pleased to learn a little bit more about some of the other features and goodness of the Hive blockchain. Being able to investigate and participate in it has allowed me to meet other people and learn from what they are doing. I see how many are willing to help us and teach us selflessly. That makes the growth uniform, as a whole, so that more people know how to do things well and, in turn, we can help others. For example, thanks to the advice and guidance provided by some communities I can better use some tools to create content, advertise posts and support other creators. In addition, the good explanation of the new projects make that one can even participate through small investments, which makes you get more involved.

I still have a lot to learn, obviously. Looking back, I think I have improved somewhat. So, numerically, it makes sense that I'm up double digits. But could there be growth in reputation that isn't measured by a number?

It would be an incomparable special power to know what others truly think of you, wouldn't it? But sometimes, sometimes, sometimes, sometimes, someone wants to express it to you in some way, either in word or deed. And that's something to treasure. It doesn't happen every day. Something similar happens at Hive. We like to get comments and interactions from what we publish. But especially particular are the ones that talk about you as a content creator, those that tell you that they always read you, or that they enjoy what you do, that they consider you a reference for some kind of content. Those help you see how other people see you, what's the name you have, what's your reputation.

Of course, those kinds of comments shouldn't make us get off the ground, that we think we're better than everybody else, that we're the best of the blockchain. But we can accommodate it in our healthy balanced view of ourselves. That keeps us continuing to give our best. But it also helps us see the responsibility that comes with it, because maybe someone else will want to follow in some of our footsteps. We want to leave the best possible reference, not only in a clear way, but also in the right way, in the right direction. So, my intention is to keep trying to give the best possible quality, and to follow in the direction that the leaders of the ecosystem are going and give them as much support as possible.

Is it really that big of a deal to celebrate achieving a reputation number? Again, just as in accounting, sometimes the numbers don't tell us everything. For example, for a modest start-up, reaching $500 cash on hand at a certain point in its cash flow may be quite a feat, even if it still has a good inventory and no accounts payable. But for a medium-sized company, having that same amount of cash on hand may be nothing more than a simple amount to pay workers in a couple of days. Lesson: positive figures in Hive will always be good if they help you see the progress you have made.

In conclusion: growing in good reputation is good news. It will not only be a number that grows under a fair and well-defined calculation, but also qualitatively. We ourselves are one of the best evaluators of this progress. That is why we should be happy when we perceive it. En nuestra vida presencial, la buena reputación es algo de mucho valor. Por eso es lógico que también busquemos tenerla en nuestra blockchain. Probablemente sepas que al lado de nuestro nombre de perfil tenemos un número de dos dígitos que se le llama "Reputación". Podríamos decir que mientras más alto sea ese número mayor es tú buena reputación en Hive. ¿Cómo se incrementa? Dicho de forma sencilla, por medio de los votos que reciben tus post y comentarios. Pero ésta publicación no es para darte detalles sobre éste cálculo.

Así que cuando queremos incrementar nuestro valor numérico de reputación, tratamos de hacer buenos contenidos, comentar e interactuar. Poco a poco estaremos viendo éste número crecer y estaremos contentos. ¿Es lo más importante aquí? Tal como sucede en la contabilidad, a veces un número no nos dice todo. Es más importante lo que significa ése número, lo que te dice ése valor.

He visto con admiración quienes ya desde hace años tenían una reputación por encima de setenta. Por eso, cuando alcancé ese dígito hace un par de años me alegró mucho. Ahora verme con dos dígitos más arriba desde la semana pasada es motivo de satisfacción para mi. Cada uno de nosotros sabemos el empeño que le hemos puesto a ir creando nuestro nombre y marca personal en la blockchain, lo que nos ha tocado aprender, lo que hemos tenido que dejar atrás, lo que hemos rechazado, etc. De modo que al ver cuánto hemos avanzado desde que entramos aquí es motivo de alegría, sin compararnos con los demás.

En mi caso, puedo estar satisfecho al conocer un poco más algunas otras características y bondades de la blockchain de Hive. El poder investigar y participar en ello me ha permitido conocer a otras personas y aprender de lo que están haciendo. Veo como muchos están dispuestos a ayudarnos y enseñarnos desinteresadamente. Eso hace que el crecimiento sea uniforme, en conjunto, de que más personas sepamos a hacer las cosas bien y, a su vez, podamos ayudar a otros. Por ejemplo, gracias a la asesoría y guía que brindan algunas comunidades puedo usar mejor algunas herramientas para la creación de contenido, hacer la publicidad de los post y apoyar a otros creadores. Además, la buena explicación de los proyectos nuevos hacen que uno incluso pueda participar mediante pequeñas inversiones, lo cual hace que uno se involucre más a fondo.

Me falta mucho por seguir aprendiendo, obviamente. Al mirar atrás, creo que he mejorado algo. Así que, numéricamente, tiene sentido que tenga dos dígitos más. Pero, ¿pudiera haber crecimiento en la reputación que no se mida con un número?

Sería un poder especial incomparable saber lo que otros verdaderamente opinan de ti, ¿no es cierto? Pero a veces, a veces, a veces, alguien quiere expresártelo de alguna forma, bien sea de palabra o de acción. Y eso hay que atesorarlo. No sucede todos los días. Algo similar sucede en Hive. Nos gusta recibir comentarios e interacciones de lo que publicamos. Pero son especialmente particulares los que hablan sobre uno como creador de contenido, esos que te dicen que siempre te leen, o que disfrutan lo que haces, que te consideran una referencia para algún tipo de contenido. Esos te ayudan a ver cómo te ven otras personas, cual es el nombre que tienes, cuál es tu reputación.

Por supuesto, éste tipo de comentarios no deberían hacer que nos despeguemos del suelo, de que nos creamos mejores que los demás, que somos lo mejor de la blockchain. Pero sí podemos acomodarlo en nuestro sano punto de vista equilibrado de nosotros mismos. Eso nos hace seguir dando lo mejor de nosotros mismos. Pero también nos ayuda a ver la responsabilidad que se conlleva, porque tal vez alguien más quiera seguir algunos de nuestros pasos. Queremos dejar la mejor referencia posible, no solo de forma clara, sino también de forma correcta, en la dirección acertada. Por eso, mi intención es seguir tratando de dar la mejor calidad posible, y seguir en la dirección que siguen los líderes del ecosistema y brindándole el máximo apoyo posible.

¿De verdad es para tanto celebrar alcanzar un número de reputación? De nuevo, tal como sucede en la contabilidad, a veces los números no nos dicen todo. Por ejemplo, para un modesto emprendimiento, alcanzar en determinado momento de su flujo de caja un efectivo disponible de $500 puede ser una gran hazaña, teniendo aún un buen inventario y sin cuentas por pagar. Pero para una empresa mediana puede que tener ese mismo monto en efectivo disponible no sea más que un simple monto para pagarle a los trabajadores en un par de días. Lección: las cifras positivas en Hive siempre serán buenos si te ayudan a ver el progreso que has hecho.

En conclusión: crecer en buena reputación es una buena noticia. No será solamente un número que crece bajo un cálculo justo y bien definido, sino también de forma cualitativa. Uno mismo es uno de los mejores evaluadores de ese progreso. Por eso hay que sentirse feliz cuando esto lo percibamos. Estaré contento cuando también te vea crecer, porque sé que tú también estás contento con verme crecer. ¡Hasta la próxima!
