Cleanliness is next to Godliness

Cleanliness Is next to Godliness. So it's been said since time immemorial. And that's just the fact. Even as humans cleanliness matters a lot. You can’t expect to dress unclean and expect people to give you the respect and honor you deserve. But when you are clean, without asking for respect, you will be respected.

There was a post I read on my WhatsApp status by a friend who happened to show the hatred or dislike she has for guys who don't smell nice. All of these could fall back to the way the guy takes cleanliness to be.

She also wrote about an incident she experienced with a child and the mom who happens to be a hairdresser where she styles her hair. The son of this hairdresser was found eating sand while playing with his pop. My friend asked the mother of the boy why she didn’t care for him. Her response was “That’s the way he does”.

The way he does what? Is the child the one to control her or she should control the child? This is where everything gets faulty. Such a child might grow up to become clean in his personality. But most times children with such an upbringing might find it difficult to change their ways.

Compared to a child who was brought up in a clean and tidy environment. It's not a matter of riches, there are a lot of rich people who are dirty and don't care about their physical appearance and environment. Someone can be living in a hut-like apartment and remain so clean that you can feel the effects in the immediate surroundings.

I remember some time when I was younger, I wouldn't go to school without having a spiky iron on my school uniform. They are neat, but I just love to see them well-ironed. I got used to that and now that I am even grown up, I won't feel comfortable wearing a cloth that is not well ironed. I always love my clothes neatly ironed.

Talking about my immediate surroundings, I am not the type that gets my hands on keeping the home tidy every time. I would prefer to relax, get all of this cleaning done then make sure I maintain the surroundings. It has also affected my laundry.

I love it when I am in a clean environment. There is this feeling you get from having a nice environment. When you can even sleep and roll on the floor, rest your back on the wall, relax in the restroom, and have no cockroaches in the kitchen cabinets.

Embracing untidiness is what brings about cobwebs on the wall, and dust around everything. But if you at least tidy up a room and get things set, if you are alone without stress you can decide to feel the difference between remaining clean and unclean.

There are times when my mum told me that even if you have just three clothes, and you wash them and tidy them up now and then, then there is no way people would know you are just with three clothes. But even if you have thousands of clothes, and you are not clean with them. Most of them might end up being rags.
