Let’s Crochet A Ruffle Bucket Hat

Hello everyone, so I was there yesterday and it dawned me I haven’t made a ruffle bucket hat before. Over how many years now that I’ve been crocheting and haven’t made a ruffle bucket hat and it’s all because I hate making ruffles. They are really pretty but I just don’t like making them as it requires your full attention. Even though crocheting makes you relaxed, you cant be so relaxed when making ruffles , it involves a lot of counting. The least distraction and you’re making mistakes.
Eventually I brought myself to make one and I spent 4 hours(no breaks) making this pretty ruffle hat.

The materials I used were:
• 1.60mm crochet hook
• 50g yarn

Procedure
I started by making the base. In making the base, I crocheted 4 chains and made 11 double crochets into the first stitch so making 12 double crochet in a circle. I started increasing by making 3 chains( which acted like a double crochet), added another double crochet to that same stitch with the three chains and made one double crochet in the next stitch. I repeated this till I ended the row. I now continued with the increase. The next increase was 2 double crochets in one stitch, 1 double crochet in the next two stitches. I repeated till I was done with the row. The next increase was 2 double crochets in one stitch and 1 double crochet in the next three stitches.I repeated till I was done with that row. In the last row of the base, I made 2 double crochets in one stitch and 1 double crochet in the next 4 stitches. I repeated till I was done with that row.

Making the body of the hat,I now made 2 double crochet in the first stitch and 1 double in the rest of the stitches till the end of the row. I repeated the same for the next 9 rows making 10 in total.

For the ruffle, I made 5 double crochets in the first stitch, 4 double crochets in the next stitch, 3 double crochet in the next stitch and 2 double crochets in the next stitch. I repeated this till I ended the row. I now repeated the same thing for the next row but this time I ended with 1 double crochet instead of 2.

The result

I don’t know how I really feel about making ruffles now. It was fun making this but I just didnt like the part I had to stay alert making the ruffles because of the counting involved. Mmm, I’m thinking of making another one again for someone. Hopefully the thought of the person encourages me to like “the counting part”.
