Post HF 24 Ramble

avatar

Alright?

Well it seems that things are mostly working - thank you to all who have been working on advancing the Hive blockchain these past few months.

IMG_0986.JPG
Somewhere in Valencia, Spain

I remember reading that the old steemit accounts stake would be dripped into the DHF following HF24. I don't see any evidence of that happening just yet, but the fund is nicely stocked - ready for a team of awesome devs to appear and produce something to send us into orbit.

image.png

Still running at a quarter budget, and that is presumably excluding the 70 odd million HIVE being moved into the DHF over the coming years.

Hive-Engine looks to be almost done with it's update. I noticed we went back 5 days or so, where I had around 5k of LEO for sale, but they have all disappeared now and things look to be close to where we left off.

image.png

I had read that hive.vote was going to need a major upgrade in order to function again following the fork, but that looks to have been sorted sharpish as some autos are landing. I was actually looking forward to some time without this working, it's much more relaxing to post when not thinking 'is this worth the autos that usually hit my posts'.

Comments and votes are working but don't look that way when submitted. A refresh or two later though and there they are, and I guess this will be sorted soon enough.

Splinterlands didn't seem to be affected much, and I completely my last daily quest of the current season earlier today. It's been a while since I lucked out on a decent card though - maybe this time.

Previously I was hitting Champion 1 with days to spare, but the last couple of seasons have proved much harder. Though considering my investment, I'll take this.

image.png

I've recently got more involved in delegating stake, and these are the latest arrangements.

image.png

It's interesting to see the returns for delegating a very similar amount to ocdb, curangel, leo.voter, and emrebeyler - via dlease. The first two were made with less consideration for rewards, and it does look like the return is less. However, I don't visit many new authors (presuming we have them?!) at present, and so delegating stake to curangel and ocdb is some way to repent.

The leofinance tribe had a bit of a nightmare recently with wLEO, and I guess the delegation there (although it pays) is a way to support the tribe while wounds are healing. I think what folks need to remember is that the token was sub .1 HIVE just a few months ago, and so even after the recent fall from almost 2 HIVE per LEO, things are still very positive. I'm waiting to see if they advertise leofinance.io on Brave - something which I heard the boss man mention in a round-table a week or so ago.

I'm still a little disappointed that the proposal (by roomservice I think) to advertise Hive on Brave didn't get any support - I think they were asking for the equivalent of a day and a half of the DHF budget - worth a go in my opinion.

It's strange to think back to my Steem account this time last year - I had less than 15k SP. A year on and my Hive account has just over 120k. So yeah, I've been buying Hive and selling other crap (STEEM/BLURT) and I'm still forever hopeful that this tech will worth more than current valuation in the future. Ideally, I'd like that to be somewhere around next Autumn, where I hope to have enough saved to stick a deposit on a house somewhere.

Where that house will be I do not know, but I hope it isn't the UK. I really don't fancy living under a cloud for the rest of my days, and find what folks like @revisesociology are doing (heading south!) inspiring. Along with aprendiendo Español and the keyboard, I'm focused on realising this dream, and maybe Hive can help...

Have a good one,

Ash

You've come a long way on your adventure, and I am certain of the fact that you will have enough to deposit on a house sooner or later. Let's hope it sooner rather than later though. HIVEFEST at your house in 2022? ;)

Thanks buddy, I hope so. It's a bit depressing seeing all your mates and younger brother getting themselves set, I have some catching up to do. HIVE is the potential home run, let's see...

Oh, I know the feeling.. Trust me. Well, I don't have a younger brother, but I have an older one. Other than that, I am definitely familiar with that feeling. Hopefully Hive will help us out a bit by making some things easier. Keep your head up, you've come a long way!

HIVE will trade triple digits someday. Mark my words. 😎

I'll have bottled it and sold up long before then - $2 is a life-changer for me!

That would be a good first target, $20 would be a good a second target, and $200 the third. 😉

A lot has changed in one year steem verse hive, a lot can change in the coming year, hopefully for the best.

Nov 6th 2019 my SP was 2208.01 today on hive I have 6525.154 HP. So yes I would like to see a nice price rally. I still can not believe I have over 6500 HP.

That is true - expect the unexpected I guess - which at this point, is HIVE > $1, that would be rather sweet.

Tripled in a year, that's not bad at all. I'd like to see you at 10k, one of the few who's been doing things right throughout :)

I just need to post a little bit more, but I have a lot of fun reading and commenting, I expect by the time Hive has its one year anniversary I will be pretty close to the 10K mark.

Yeah, a post a day is a nice target - something I haven't managed to do for a long time.

1 year HIVE and 10k sounds like a fair marker :)

thats a load of hive you made over the year there dude.. and yeah...this year with some additional drops that helped a lot (it also helps if you dont get it stolen..better for you funds)

but the grey northern european cloud yeah.. he is also been hitting me this year more than I had wanted. I had nice ideas for this year for travelling down south nearly every weekend as the airport here is like 10 minutes away..but yeah..not really now

i would have liked that dev fund for on the brave browser. a shit of people use that!

Lots of it bought towards the end of last year in STEEM, and then some fair swaps over to HIVE have helped.

I was hoping 100k would be enough to sort me out at some point, we shall see.

And yeah, a real shitter to get your HIVES stolen, sorry :(

Advertising, soon, please!

Portugal! Portugal is quite easy on crypto taxes, I've heard. Spain not so much. A bill has been drafted in the Spanish parliament proposing that all crypto investors declare all their holdings. That one sounds like a precursor to all manner of nastiness.

In my experience, people tend to speak English much better in Portugal than in Spain.

Yeah, I've heard Portugal is pretty crypto friendly, but wasn't aware of this Spanish bill. Hmmm. Well i think it will be Spain first, but depending on what happens this next year, perhaps the Algave is a better option :)

I think compared to previous forks, this one has gone reasonably well. Makes sense, no Steemit inc :)

Hello dear friend @ abh12345 good afternoon
It's good that everything is working well over there, I don't know if it's my internet or it's the hive page that is very slow, I can't see the notifications, also, when you make comments it takes too long, these last days I haven't been able to comment much, I think my participation in the engagement league will be affected

Congratulations on how things have worked out this year for you hive, your hive power is noticeable. Much deserved
Have a splendid night

I think the problems are with Hive, but don't worry, all we be well soon enough.

Thank you very much, same to you :)

Good luck with your plans. Finding a place where you feel good is the most important thing. We only live once and quality of life matters.
I grew up having sun all the time even though I live in a mountain area, so I know what you mean.
Good luck.

HF24 has been a bit chaotic, though a necessary upgrade from what I've seen. There's still some things that are on and off in functionality like hiveblocks.

I'll be going into next month with over 100HP from the looks of it, maybe I can reach 1000 by the end of the year. There seems to be pretty good opportunity for growth and community development here, especially for those putting out content.

Good luck with your own growth, and Hive does have quite a large Spanish userbase. I'd recommend you read Fluency Made Easy by Ikenna Obi, it's got a methodology you can use to learn any language as well as a bunch of other tricks you can use, plus tips on avoiding common pitfalls people run into while learning a language. Learning itself is a skill that needs practice and refinement, which is something a lot of people overlook and then end up giving up on learning something when their current method of learning isn't working well.

Yeah, it's never perfect off the bat - so many moving parts.

There seems to be pretty good opportunity for growth and community development here, especially for those putting out content.

It really is a great time to be collecting HIVE - low number of users and low price.

Thanks for the tips in the final paragraph, I've noticed my method of learning changing as I progress - cue cards are really helping!

What's great is you have a goal for your earnings. Too many people, I think, are simply in some sort of imagined contest where the aim of the game is to save as much as possible forever.....crypto needs using to give it true utility and worth. Good luck with the plans, @revisesociology has gone for it! I am really impressed.
This time next year.........
Have a great weekend young man :-)

Right! Got to put it to use at some point, and a house deposit seems like a good cause. Right now, the HIVE in the bank would just about sort a deposit on something and cover some of the fees, but I'll take a gamble and see how it's looking this time next year - a $ HIVE changes my life.

Thanks, you too!

Happy to hear so much went well with the Hardfork. It is still a bit glitchy on the upvotes and comments. but, that is small potatoes as it will eventually show up.

I am amazed at how much more SP I have now! I was sitting at under 5,000 which excited the heck out of me and now I am over 20,000!! I am not sure how I got there, but, I sure am happy about it. Now, let's get this thing kicking up! If you wanted to short track to a house, you should do day trading. I buy and sell Apple stock all day! :) The market has been so volatile, the money is great!

As an aside, I vote for Portugal, for many reasons. Having lived in both, Portugal is a little more laid back, the taxes are much different and everyone speaks English, although next time I would live near Lisbon. I was on Terceira Island.

Good luck with following the sun! The only place I didn't have sun every day was Germany and the UK!

Thank you Denise :)

Day trading APPL stocks eh, you do surprise me but well done there!

There are a number of votes for Portugal - I've told work Spain for now so don't want to confuse matters. Hopefully there will be some news in the next week or two!

Okay... I am in healthcare for my real job. I work nights. Day trading came when the market was down and payouts big. I like day trading because it is over and done with right away. I had just been trading mostly APPL and RCL (I know, don't hate me, everyone does, but for me, this is about the money!) and they will be paying for the new house.

I can do it when I have time and skip it when I don't. No stress. :)) Don't worry. I surprised me when I started last year, but, I bought my Toyota Highlander Hybrid cash, so I am happy.

I'm hoping for good news for you. I love Spain too! There is no bad deal to be had. Thanks for the Engage Tokens!

Sounds like you've done really well! Perhaps leofinance is for you :)

I'm just saving as much as I can this next year, and if crypto does something that would be a big bonus.

My pleasure!

That is good to hear. Generally things are working for me as well, but hive.vote is a hit or miss, but I am doing some auto vote looks like. Writing a lot more on Leo, just to show support. Something I should have done a long time ago. You asked me several times, but I was lazy. Rest is a bit same old. We need something new soon enough...
