Conversation With Yourself: Why It Matters More Than You Think
Hello to all hive users š¤ā¤ļøš
Hope you all are healthy and doing great in your lifeš
If you look at our lives today, you will find that they are filled with numerous distractions. We live in a digital age where we encounter countless things on our screensāa phenomenon that serves as a major source of these distractions. Whether you are active on social media or simply browsing the internet, you are bound to encounter a multitude of distractions. These elements are designed and marketed so skillfully that it becomes incredibly easy for people to get caught up in them. You may have heard about the benefits of meditation or the practice of taking a "digital detox"; all of these activities are intended to help mitigate these very distractions.

Throughout the week, we spend countless hours using our mobile phones; consequently, we feel the need for moments of absolute tranquilityāperiods entirely free from any distractions. Ideally, doing this on a daily basis would be even more beneficial, as it would help minimize our daily exposure to distractions, prevent our minds from getting entangled in them, and make it much easier for us to simply ignore them. Speaking personally, I, too, struggle with a significant addiction to my mobile phone, and I use it throughout the weekāpartly because it has become a necessity in today's world. While a daily digital detox can be somewhat challenging, whenever the weekend arrives, I make a point of setting my phone aside to engage in other activities. This helps shift my focus away from the mobile phone and redirect my attention toward other things. I have noticed that whenever I distance myself from my mobile phone, I feel significantly betterāespecially when I am connecting with nature. Friends, connecting with nature serves as the ultimate digital detox; it not only helps curb your mobile phone addiction but also mitigates the negative health effects associated with excessive phone usage. You may have observed that prolonged screen time often leads to eye strain, headaches, and a peculiar sense of irritability that leaves us feeling physically and mentally exhausted. Just try doing this yourself sometimeāperhaps you, too, have noticed that when you spend an entire day working at the officeāmeaning sitting in front of a screen for 9 to 10 hoursāyou have absolutely no energy left by the time you get home. On the other hand, on your day offāeven if you spend the whole day working around the houseāyou don't feel nearly as exhausted as you do after working while seated in front of a screen. I can spend my entire day off gardening without feeling tired; however, sitting in front of a screen for 8 or 9 hours at the office completely drains me, and by the time I get home, all I want to do is eat and go straight to sleep. Although I often have plenty of tasks left to do, the fatigue is so overwhelming that all I crave is restānothing else. Mobile phones have become such an essential part of our lives that we can't simply set them aside, yet using them excessively doesn't feel right either.
The last time I engaged in a form of meditationāor rather, stayed away from things that distract the mindāwas a few months ago. A group of friends and I traveled to a remote mountainous region; there, we first went trekking, after which we prepared breakfast together and then spent a long time playing games in an open field. It was a truly unique experience for me; in fact, I doubt I used my mobile phone for more than a few minutes that day, as the network coverage there was so sporadic that we simply had no need for our phones. If we were to do something like this every week, we could effectively view it as a form of weekly meditation, helping us stay free from distractions.
If you set aside some time in your daily routine each dayāa period where you remain completely still, free from any surrounding distractions, and engage in a conversation with yourselfāit can bring about a profound inner healing. You will experience a sense of deep repose and feel completely relaxed.

I think we generally need to connect with nature more, and digital detox is something I've been trying to do, but it has been very hard S 90% of stuffs I do is digital.

Yeah, I feel that. Itās tough to unplug when almost everything we do is tied to screens. Maybe itās not about cutting it off completely, but just creating small pockets of offline time like short walks, sitting outside, or even just being without your phone for a bit. Even a little connection with nature can reset your mind more than we expect.
