Wonders Shall Never Seize

It was challenging to believe, but then it happened.
My friend came to my house one day and met my cousin, who also came to visit. He had never visited us before, but maybe he was just passing by and decided to call us. My mum and I were surprised to see him. After sitting for an hour, my mum decided to go to the kitchen to prepare food for him to eat. While cooking the food, my friend bounced in. Immediately she entered, my cousin began to behave just like someone who has a hatred for my friend.

“Is she your friend?” He asked casually.
“Why did you ask?” I asked in reply. Meanwhile, I had seen it from his face that he had some kind of hatred for my friend. “Did you like her?” I did not hesitate to ask.
“Who will like that one that looks like a devil?” he replied.
Meanwhile, my friend was inside my room. She did not hear an inch of what my cousin had said.

The following day, my cousin, who does not love visiting, came again. He sat for about two hours with a kind of look on his face expecting to say something I do not know. After another hour, my friend called me to ask if I was at home. I answered “Yes”. Within a few minutes of calling, she arrived. When I arrived, my cousin said, “Why are you just so ugly?” His question got me angry. I do not know what to say other than to shout at my cousins for saying a word like that. I was outraged and my mum heard from where she was sitting outside. She began to talk hard to him. “If care is not taken, I will stop you from coming to my house. I don't like people who detest others”, my mum said in anger.

I was expecting my cousin to say he was sorry, but then he kept mute without saying a word. I asked my friend to ignore him as he was not wise enough. My friend started talking without seizing. Although I was the one, I would not visit her again. She was so patient to have not made that statement. “Your cousin is such an idiot”, she said while she was so furious. I was just begging her to forgive my cousin as he knew not what he had done.
“Just let him try it again, I will show him that I'm stronger than him.” my friend was seriously angry, but at the same time, I was happy that he did not use that to talk back at me.

After that day, my friend only came once and did not come again. I felt it was because of what my cousin had said to her. I walked straight to her house one evening just to apologize once again. When I got to her house, we both chatted, and she asked “I hope that my useless cousin is not coming again?” Meanwhile, he has been coming frequently, but I observed that he stopped at some point for a reason I don't know, and I was not ready to ask.

“No”, I replied.
My friend later said she had been busy doing some house chores all this while, and that was why she was unable to come to my place. I was excited after hearing that statement. We walked to my place and she stayed a little longer. After an hour, we sighted my cousin coming to my house and my friend immediately stood up and said she was going home. “I would rather not be insulted again”, she said. I tried to call her down so that she could wait a bit, but she was not ready to wait. My mum later intruded and asked her to stay, which she agreed to.

My cousin entered. He greeted everyone normally and, this time, calmly. I was surprised as he sat quietly without saying a word. After staying for some more hours, my friend left for her abode.

“Please, Abi, help me talk to your friend”, he said calmly again. “I have talked to her, and she has forgiven you,” I replied without knowing what he had in mind.
“I don't mean that”, he said again.
“Then what do you want?” I asked.
“I have been in love with your friend since the first day I saw her.” that word came just like a bombshell. I was still searching for the one who said that word even though I had known that it was my cousin.
“Please, repeat yourself”, I said.
“I like your friend”, he repeated.
“Are you for real?” I asked.

I told my friend about it as it also filtered into her ears just like a dropped bombshell. The next day, she came to my house, and my cousin was around. I had to pretend to get out of the room. The two of them began to have conversations, and at the end, they both smiled outside. “Wonders she never ends”, I said to myself.

Today, these two have got married and have two kids.

A funny way to show someone you're interested in them. He's lucky she seems to be quite understanding because someone else might've taken it a lot more seriously.

What your cousin actually had was love for your friend and not hate. Many times we behave irrationally in situations that arise in our lives. A nice ending to a story that was like a novel.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us.

Excellent Friday.
