La arrogancia corroe el corazón de quien la siente (Es/En)

Buen día, amigos de Hive. De corazón espero que se encuentren bien y si ese no es el caso, cobre ánimo, las cosas malas son temporales. En esta oportunidad, deseo compartir con ustedes mi perspectiva sobre una actitud negativa que nos traerá infelicidad si no la erradicamos. Espero que puedan leer mi publicación.

Por ser seres humanos imperfectos de vez en cuando nuestro ego se elevará y tratará de ahogar la humildad que tengamos. Ninguno de nosotros somos inmunes a los dardos venenosos que puede ocasionar el que nos sintamos superior a los demás. Es cierto que nos pueden asaltar sentimientos de grandeza, pero debemos actuar para poner los pies sobre la tierra y recordar que todos somos mortales.

Reconozco que en algunas ocasiones he sentido la tentación de que otros noten que los supero en algún campo, créanme, me avergüenzo de eso. Es cierto que todos tenemos talentos y destrezas que se notan, pero este hecho no nos da licencia para hacer sentir mal a nadie. Esa persona que a veces consideramos erróneamente que no tiene alguna habilidad sobresaliente, es posible que tenga hermosas cualidades como la bondad, la hospitalidad o la humildad.

Because we are imperfect human beings, from time to time our ego will rise up and try to drown out any humility we may have. None of us are immune to the poisonous darts that can cause us to feel superior to others. It is true that feelings of grandeur can assail us, but we must act to put our feet on the ground and remember that we are all mortal.

I admit that on some occasions I have felt the temptation for others to notice that I surpass them in some field, believe me, I am ashamed of that. It is true that we all have talents and skills that are noticed, but this fact does not give us license to make anyone feel bad. That person who we sometimes mistakenly think of as lacking some outstanding ability may have beautiful qualities such as kindness, hospitality or humility.

Con mucha libertad, hoy en día, considero que esas cualidades son más valiosas que cualquier destreza. No quiero que mal interpreten lo que digo. Por ejemplo, si alguien tiene la habilidad de cantar muy bonito o posee cualquier otro talento, es un don del cual se puede disfrutar con equilibrio, pero si la persona exhibe sus habilidades para sentirse superior a otros, ya sus motivos carecen de lo que es realmente importante, a saber, cualidades piadosas que definen a un auténtico ser humano.

La arrogancia rebaja a quien la siente. En vez de ser una súper estrella por lo que puede realizar, poco a poco se va convirtiendo en un monstruo que daña a quienes lo rodean. No está mal sacar partido de un don en particular, lo malo es que permitamos que la altivez se apodere de nosotros y lleguemos a sentirnos inmortales. La arrogancia nos eleva a un plano cuyos fundamentos son extremadamente inestables y cuando caemos de esa altura ficticia, los daños pueden ser irreversibles.

Very freely, today, I consider those qualities to be more valuable than any skill. I don't want you to misinterpret what I am saying. For example, if someone has the ability to sing beautifully or possesses any other talent, it is a gift that can be enjoyed with balance, but if the person displays his skills to feel superior to others, his motives lack what is really important, namely godly qualities that define a true human being.

Arrogance demeans the one who feels it. Instead of being a superstar for what he can accomplish, he gradually becomes a monster who harms those around him. It is not wrong to take advantage of a particular gift, what is wrong is that we allow haughtiness to take hold of us and we come to feel immortal. Arrogance elevates us to a plane whose foundations are extremely unstable and when we fall from that fictitious height, the damage can be irreversible.

Hace muchos años, tuve el gran privilegio de conocer a una señora que no sabía leer; sin embargo, la señora es una persona que se desvive por ayudar a los demás. Es conocida en el sector como una mujer hospitalaria y son muchos los que la queremos. Al pasar tiempo con ella, me percaté de que la humildad es una cualidad que nace de un corazón altruista que busca el bienestar de los demás y aquí es donde radica la felicidad genuina.

La señora vive en una casa modesta y al hablar, no consigue las palabras apropiadas para describir lo que siente en algunas oportunidades, pero el interés que demuestra por los necesitados es tan evidente que la hace grande para mí. Cuando la veo, percibo a un ser humano en toda su expresión, capaz de sentir el dolor de los demás en su corazón y actuar en pro de su bienestar. De corazón les confieso que esa señora es una joya viviente. Me encanta compartir con ella, porque yo quiero ser así.

Many years ago, I had the great privilege of meeting a lady who could not read; however, the lady is a person who goes out of her way to help others. She is known in the area as a hospitable woman and many of us love her. Spending time with her, I realized that humility is a quality that comes from an altruistic heart that seeks the welfare of others and this is where genuine happiness lies.

The lady lives in a modest house and when she speaks, she cannot find the right words to describe what she feels at times, but the interest she shows for those in need is so evident that it makes her great to me. When I see her, I perceive a human being in her full expression, capable of feeling the pain of others in her heart and acting for their welfare. From the bottom of my heart I confess that this lady is a living jewel. I love to share with her, because I want to be like her.

Por el contrario, también he conocido personas que miran de reojo a los demás y que son incapaces de siquiera saludarlos. Este tipo de conductas va en contra de la naturaleza de lo que en realidad debe ser un ser humano y al final lo que deja es un vacío que carcome el corazón. Podemos ser el mejor chef del mundo, la mejor cantante, el mejor escritor, pero si somos arrogante jamás seremos felices.

Debemos esforzarnos por cultivar la humildad, no es fácil porque como mencioné al principio, tenemos la tendencia a exhibirnos, pero podemos ganar en esta lucha. Ahoguemos esos sentimientos de superioridad que de repente llegan sin ser invitados, no le demos cabida a falsos paradigmas. Saludemos a todos, al señor que vende mangos en la plaza, al que limpia zapatos, a quienes trabajan en el aseo. Amigos, todos somos humanos y por ende somos mortales. Ningún talento cambiará está verdad.

On the contrary, I have also met people who look sideways at others and are incapable of even greeting them. This type of behavior goes against the nature of what a human being should really be and in the end what it leaves is an emptiness that eats away at the heart. We can be the best chef in the world, the best singer, the best writer, but if we are arrogant we will never be happy.

We must strive to cultivate humility, it is not easy because as I mentioned at the beginning, we have the tendency to show off, but we can win in this struggle. Let us stifle those feelings of superiority that suddenly arrive uninvited, let us not give room for false paradigms. Let us greet everyone, the man who sells mangoes in the plaza, the shoe shiner, the janitor. Friends, we are all human and therefore we are all mortal. No talent will change this truth.

Además, el mundo da muchas vueltas. No sabemos si mañana seremos nosotros quienes ocupemos esos puestos que en ocasiones hemos despreciado. La vida es hermosa, pero será más hermosa aún, si vivimos con los pies sobre la tierra; siendo humildes y dándole amor, respeto y atención a todas las personas que estén dispuestas a recibirlo.

Besides, the world takes many turns. We do not know if tomorrow we will be the ones to occupy those positions that we have sometimes despised. Life is beautiful, but it will be even more beautiful if we live with our feet on the ground; being humble and giving love, respect and attention to all the people who are willing to receive it.
