When I was five years old I loved to be with my mom in the kitchen. At that time I wanted to learn how to cook and do the dishes. I would always volunteer to do the dishes and my mom would set up a chair to pull me up there so I could get to the scrubber. Even though I would leave the dishes dirty, my mom never stopped me from helping her. Of course, after I did the dishes, she would go back to wash them because they were obviously dirty.

With cooking, however, my mom was more careful, even though I wanted to learn, she didn't allow me to get involved in the kitchen at that age. She was really scared of the fact that I would burn myself and, of course, she didn't want to expose me to any danger. The only thing she allowed me to do was to make arepitas, she would give me the dough already made and I would make the ball and squash it when it was thin enough.

There were times when I wanted her to give me more dough to continue making the balls but she was in a hurry because she had to take care of my little brother and my dad, so she would tell me another day. Since I loved the idea of learning to cook, my parents bought me a tea set. Although it was all pretend because it was a game, I played the kitchen and had a lot of fun until several years went by and I didn't want to play anymore, I wanted to cook for real.

When I was about eight years old I asked my mom to let me cook, but I didn't even know how to light the stove, my mom wouldn't let me. So I decided to learn how to light matches. It was terrible, I would pass them through the little box and once I lit them I would throw them away because it scared me. Until there came a time when I could light it and hold on to it, that was great. It's worth noting, I would do this to him without my mom noticing.

I remember that I went to the bodega and bought a box of matches and from then on for many months my fun was to light it and let the stick burn little by little, when I felt the heat close to my fingers I paid for it. My cousins and I started to compete to see who could resist the most with the matchstick and that was very exciting.

My mom didn't know what we were doing, until one day she discovered me with several matchboxes in my closet and asked me what I was doing with them. I answered that it was just in case we ran out of matches in the house and the cellar was closed. My mom didn't believe me, until I told her it was for playing. At that moment she got upset and scolded me, but fortunately I had already learned how to light the matches and I gave her a demonstration.

She didn't find it exciting by any means, explained to me how dangerous it was to be playing with fire and took the matches away from me. Although I am aware that everything I did in hiding represented a danger, I admit that I felt a sense of accomplishment when I was able to learn how to light the matches and although my mom was more concerned that I wasn't inventing, I was happy.

In that process of inventing and hiding by lighting matches, I threw a lit match on the bed because I left it lit as long as I could hold it but when I could no longer hold it, I threw it and it fell on the mattress. Fortunately nothing happened because the match went out quickly and all that was left was a small but very small burn on the mattress. My mom found out about this event and scolded me for several days, she made me understand that a tragedy could have happened. When she explained to me step by step what flammable items were, I got scared and stopped inventing.

My mom stopping to explain to me in detail everything that could happen with fire was what made me think again and in this way I stopped inventing. As children we have many abilities to do dangerous things on the sly, hence the importance of parents taking the time to supervise their children. My mom was very careful and yet I did my pranks and although I am not proud of them I am happy to remember her and tell her about them.

My recommendation is to be attentive with children, in the blink of an eye they can do something that represents a real danger for them. And even if the children are "quiet" you have to keep an eye on them.

  • Agarrar hojjillas.
  • Cortarse el cabello.
  • Introducir objetos en nariz, boca u oidos.
  • Ligar químicos.

😅😅😂😂😂😂

Las cosas de los niños. Gracias por tu excelente publicación amiga. ❤️🥰
