Lucía was born into a humble home. Her parents were honest and hard-working people. Lucia was very happy in her modest home, she had everything she wanted. A loving father, a protective mother and mischievous but playful siblings. From a very young age, Lucia began to dream of the day she would be able to give her beloved father a hardware store. She saw how difficult it was for her father to provide for the family. So her determination was to give her father a business that would not only make him happy, but would also provide him with income without the need for him to work so hard.

With a deep sense of gratitude, Lucia immersed herself in her studies. She was the valedictorian at school and when she reached high school she did everything in her power to get good grades. Because of her dedication, determination and responsibility, she earned a scholarship to study at a prestigious university. This made her parents and herself very happy, because at only sixteen years old, she felt closer to achieving her dream of giving her family a better quality of life.

After graduating from high school with an excellent grade point average, her father accompanied her to the university, which she entered on academic merit. This house of studies was three hours away from Lucía's humble place, so she would have to live in that city to be able to study.

When he arrived at the residence, he noted that the time had come to move away from his family on weekdays. She had to stay there Monday through Friday and return on Saturdays. This saddened Lucia very much, she had never been away from home and now she had to live without her beloved family. Despite her sadness, she kept in her heart that illusion of yesteryear; she imagined herself handing the keys of a hardware store to her father. This illusion helped her minimize the emptiness she felt for not having her parents and siblings with her.

Lucia chose to study civil engineering, she loved construction and drawing up plans. However, it was difficult for her to study because she did not have the right books or the money to buy them. She had to wait for the library to clear the books, but there were many students with the same condition and it was difficult to acquire the books. In addition, when she finally managed to get them, they would only lend them to her for three days. This was not enough for Lucía to study. Despite the difficulties, she maintained a positive attitude and worked hard to study during the few days she had the books.

One weekend when she arrived home, she realized that her father had lost his job. She found him very worried, since the whole family was having to work. Lucia was completely dependent on the money her father provided her, with that money she paid the rent in the residence and bought food, because she could not always go to the university dining room, since the lines there were endless and she wasted a lot of time. In addition to that, there were subjects that she had to attend at exactly one o'clock in the afternoon, so she didn't have time to go to the dining hall. It was easier for him to take his lunch with him and have lunch in the engineering faculty, near the auditorium where he was going to have classes.

Lucia, who stood out for having a very noble heart, felt worn out seeing her father selling household items so that she could pay the rent for the residence; so she decided to start saving so as not to spend so much on college. She no longer bought food, but went to the university dining hall, stood her long lines and sometimes missed more than half of the classes that started at one o'clock.

When Lucia saw that the cafeteria was serving her a good menu, she began to cry because she remembered that at home, her family was only eating beans, because they were really going through a strong economic situation. Lucia spent several months like this, until she fell into a serious depression. She was no longer concentrating in class, she was worried about whether or not they had eaten at home, and this wore her down emotionally. So much so that they had to take her to a psychologist and she ended up being referred to psychiatry, she had a severe anxiety disorder.

Her parents, seeing her so depressed, tried to cheer her up, but Lucia no longer had the strength to be away from home knowing that her family was having a hard time. Every time the weekend ended, she would leave for college in tears. So much was Lucia's anguish in class that more than once, her classmates took her to the doctor for panic attacks. She had spent so much time like this that her performance dropped too much and her illness worsened.

Unfortunately, Lucia had to drop out of college. Although her father found a job months later, Lucia's central nervous system was so affected that she forgot to smile. Trying to resume her studies, she decided to change careers and study near her parents' home, but she couldn't, her mind was too weak. So she locked herself in her house for two long years, not seeing the meaning of life. Until her father told her: "Daughter, I don't care about any university degree, or any hardware store, what I want most is for you to get better".

Lucia's depression gradually lifted, with the reading of an extraordinary book, psychiatric help and some good friends who supported her during that dark period. Later, she smiled again and studied a short career in her hometown. She was not able to buy her dad's hardware store, but she is happy to have won the battle against the chronic depression she experienced. Now her dream is to be happy and make those around her happy. That is what she concentrates on, and she has been able to overcome the after-effects of the turbulent period she lived through when she was only sixteen years old.

Today, she maintains that the most important thing in life is not to get a university degree. Her motto is: "Even if there are dreams that we cannot materialize, there will always be the possibility of being happy. When you don't achieve a goal, don't look at it as a failure. Look for the positive among the negative and you will feel fulfilled.

Buen escrito y buena historia @abisag, te felicito
