It feels like an absolute age since I posted in the Foodie Bee Hive and that's probably because it has been an absolute age since I posted in the Foodie Bee Hive. I reckon two months and counting and that's a Conservative guess too I reckon.

Well I'm back and juicy Beef striploin is on the menu, probably my favourite cut of beef. Nope, you can keep your fillet, a good striploin trumps it for me every day of the week!

Right then, let's get down to it, shall we?

***@Ablaze's Medium Striploin, Roast Potatoes and Seasonal Vegetables **

Ingredients:
Olive Oil
1 large onion
6 or 7 decent sized mushrooms
1/2 head of Brocolli
4 medium carrots
2 striploin beef steaks
8 to 10 medium potatoes
Oregano
Crushed black pepper
Chopped or crushed garlic
Peppercorn sauce

Ok, let's get to it, get all of your ingredients out beside you and roll up your sleeves

STEP 1: Peel and chop your potatoes. Put a large pot of boiling water on the boil, add your potatoes. We'll get back to them shortly, for now we just want to par boil them.

STEP 2: Next grab your carrots and peel them and top and tail them, then pop into a saucepan with boiling water. Boil for 5 minutes then add the chopped Brocolli. Also preheat your oven to 200 degrees Celsius.

STEP 3: Once the spuds hav3 been boiling away for around 7 minutes, take them out and pop them in a Colander to drain the water. Bash them around a bit in the Colander. Then transfer them to a baking tray and sprinkle on some oregano, Crushed black pepper and chopped or crushed garlic and baste it all onto the potatoes with a generous amount of olive oil.

STEP 4: Now chop your onion and mushrooms so that they're ready to go.

STEP 5: When it comes to cooking steaks, for me a griddle pan is essential, which allows you to get those nice lines on the beef like you see at restaurants. Put the griddle pan on a high heat and wait until it is very hot before adding the steaks.

STEP 6: My wife likes her beef cooked very well done and I like mine medium, so after giving mine 3 minutes on each side, I take it out and wrap in tin foil and leave it aside. Time to add the onions, and cook for around 4 minutes stirring continously.

STEP 7: Your vegetables should be cooked now, drain them and put a lid or plate on top of saucepan to keep them warm.

STEP 8: Your potatoes should be golden brown by now and ready to be removed aswell.

STEP 10: It's time now to make some pepper cream sauce. My directions were to add 3 heaped tea spoons with 125ml water and 125ml milk and bring to the boil, stirring continously.

STEP 11: We should be ready now to serve up, and maybe serve the peppercream in a little jug or vessle on the side.

20230106_182947.jpg

STEP 12: Grab a nice bottle of red wine and a couple of glasses and enjoy with the meal. We didn't do that this time, as I am doing dry January, maybe next time, butbI had a nice bottle of red to photograph.

Bon appetite!!

You're done! Time to tuck in and enjoy the fruit of your labours! Grab a knife and fork and away you go.

It’s mouth watering! I would not resist much if someone offers me one of these. And red wine is nothing but a perfect match for the steaks.
