Back to Ashbourne to catch up with old friends

Flying visit to Ashbourne

We were away in Newcastle recently to visit my wife's family and had a brilliant time catching up with everyone. As usual the time flew past and fairly quickly we found ourselves catching an early morning flight back to Dublin.

The flight was early, so we found ourselves in Dublin airport at 8am all feeling hungry after arriving home, so we decided to surprise our kids and bring them to the town where we used to live and have breakfast with old friends and then went to a petting farm and play ground.

The Donkey Shed pictured below was a regular place for us when we lived in Ashbourne, so it was really nice to go back and meet old friends and enjoy the food which was spot on as always.

Petting Farm

There is a fantastic walk beside the Donkey Shed and loads of animals for the kids to get up close and personal with.

As you can see there are goats, pigs, donkeys, chickens and more.

We were blessed with the weather too, with bright blue skies greeting us for the day.

Let's start off with the donkeys, after all it's the Donkey Shed we were at and who in their right mind doesn't love a donkey!

Next we have the goats. Goats always make me laugh 🤣🤣.

It's probably because of all of the funny goats videos on YouTube that makes goats get me!

I'll transfer you all my Hive if you watch this without smiling! I won't really but ya get the idea 😉

The kids always get fun out of the pigs and the noises that they make.

The pigs had piglets too and this photo came nowhere near giving justice to their utter cuteness as they ran around inside their little pen.

Last but not least there were these chickens, always a big hit with the boys.

Playground Shenanigans

Unsurprisingly the kids had the best time at the playground, where we let them play and catch up with their old mates for around two hours.

There was the usual "ten more minutes" "five more minutes" "just a little while longer" when it was time to go, but we still had a 2 hour 20 minute drive home ahead of us, so we eventually said our goodbyes and drove back to Galway.

Peace out.

The petting farm looks like fun. I bet the kids loved it. I loved those kind of places when I was a kid!
