Investigating perspective with photography
Different Perspectives
Do you ever take photos from new perspectives and try to push the boundaries? That is what I'm going for in this series of photos where I am looking for some contrast between foreground and background - taking the photos from the perspective of some objects like trees, stones, branches, moss - you get the idea.
Even litter like the bottle and car tyre can hold some beauty when they are intertwined with nature, although I am certainly not advocating litter, which is something I deplore.
More Photos
Here are some more photos from my recent walk where I investigated various angles and perspectives down by the lake.
Do you have a favourite out of the fourteen I shared? Let me know in the comments below.
Inspiration
I read a recent post by one of my South African friends on hive @fermentedphil. I always like reading his musings and never leave one of his posts without either learning about something new or rethinking something. His recent post shared some beautiful photos of his local area and he took photos from different perspectives. I like this style and it is something I have always done myself, but on my most recent walk I made a point of finding some new perspectives. Here is a copy of his post:

The photos used throughout this post are all my own taken on my Samsung A51 smart phone
nice! I like the one with the moss in the foreground...I try to do that with wild flowers when I can. It's a fun hobby, isn't it?
Ya, I really like capturing photos, I'd like to get more into it and learn about lighting more and maybe buy a tripod or something for the steady hand which I lack!
I like your photos if I was to pick one however, I would choose number 4, I don't like litter either, but, the photo looks really good. The slight Dutch angle gives a nice bit of unease to it and it's a good contrast between that and the calm looking lake in the background and the colour is great
Thanks a lot man, ya, I quite liked that one myself.... I got a few similar ones on Dollymount strand before years ago when I used to live in Dublin.. How is the band going? Are ye back gigging soon?
The band is going well man, now that everything seems to be getting back on track we're going to try get a few gigs organised, few local ones to dust off the cobwebs and then we'll try get back up to Dublin. The singer managed to get one organised for a pub in Leeds, but, I don't think that'll be until closer to the summer.
This is awesome, my friend @ablaze. What an honor to have inspired someone from the other side of the world! It is all bending down to see the world from a different perspective right! I mean, you can buy a drone or climb a building to see the world from above, but that just seems like extra steps. It is so much easier to bend down and even look at the tire or the bottle floating in the river.
Awesome photographs though! I love the one with the moss. It is such a nice sunset! Soak it up, and stay safe.
Thanks a lot man, ya I love doing this too, like leaving my phone on the ground in leaves or shells on the beach and you get an amazing contrast between foreground and background, I try it with water too, but always afraid that I'll drop the phone!!
Oh yes, dropping your phone is part and parcel of getting that perfect shot 🤣🤣 does the reward outweigh the risk? Never! Gotta get that perfect shot! Nah, just kidding. But sometimes you need to be somewhat risky.
Ha ha, I'm risk taker for sure, so will always chance the risky shots! Definitely worth it!
That is so true! Sometimes those risks pay off with the best work!
