Rye River Hop Drops Citra Extra Pale IPA Review for Beer Saturday 🍻
Beer Saturday
It's Saturday again folks and after a few weeks of cans and pints of the black stuff, aka Guiness, this week I'm back with a new IPA review. It had actually been a good while since I had an IPA, as I had a rake of Heineken and Peroni left over from a party back in October and over Christmas I often drink Guinness or red wine morseso than beer.
Rye River Hop Drops Citra Extra Pale IPA
What they say
A crushable extra pale showcasing Citra hops alongside a simply stated clean malt character. Light, crisp and refreshing. I really enjoyed this one, very sessionable and great for the hot weather.
Beer Art
I must say now, I like can art here and I think the black can is what makes it. It makes it really stand out, way more than a regular silver can does. The art here is simple and crisp and so is the beer, so it just fits.

Thoughts
Right, so this one just hit the spot, a large part may be because haven't had an IPA in over a month and so my standards are at an all time low. Some hoppy bog water made in a dirty sock may well have gotten a 2.5 so long as it was hoppy!
I got out my trusty IPA glass, jesus, you'd think Martin's off license would be paying me at this stage for all the free advertising!
It poured a standard straw yellow hue and aromas of hops were quickly apparent. Hoppy textures dominate here, along with a hint of grapefruit, and grassy malt. It is definitely sessionable and clocking in at a nice easy going 4.5% means you can swill a good few.
The Grade
4/5

When you haven't had an IPA in a while they usually do hit the spot!
Ya, proper refreshing man, nothing like them or cider on a hot summer's day..... Mmmmmm Hot summer's day.... Can't wait for a few of those man!
Plenty of IPAs over your way, every second pub seems to have Brewdog on tap, they make some great beers, Hazy Jane and Elvis Juice my two favourites..
I like those two very much. Brewdog is everywhere, I think they started up here. I quite like their pubs, There is two in Glasgow.
I love an IPA in the sun, or a cheeky cider, top notch!
Ya I was in Glasgow a few years ago for work, hit the West end in the evenings for Pints, had great craic. I find the Irish and Scottish very similar in outlook, sense of humour and fondness of a cheeky pint!
Haha, I totally agree. Literally almost exactly the same except for a bit of an accent difference!!
Gone off IPA's although the wife got me this craft beer hamper and there are some nice ones . But it is a lottery. I had a Belgian one last week and it was 13% dark ale. Mother of jesus.
I don't tend to tire of the IPAs myself, I really like the hoppy taste, although I did have an unintentional break from them recently, as it was all Guinness and red wine through Christmas and early January.
I hear you on the lottery man, I got a 24 can and bottle craft selection beer box a few years back, not cheap either €120 I think amd some were pure gammy... These really overly sweet tasting beers and some mad imperial stouts.
I have to agree that is a good looking can
There will be a time that the smart beer brands will pay us, in Hive, for promoting their brands. Until then, we do it out of the goodness of our hearts...and livers.
Citra only pale ales are hit or miss for me but after a couple rakes of Heineken and Peroni, it might be just what the doctor ordered.
