A nervous experience

Hi everyone. This is my entry to the #creativenonfiction prompt. I would like to share my experience when I was nervous back in my university days.

I am an introvert type of person. I rarely participate in co-curriculum activities. I used to get nervous in my social gatherings. During the start of our first semester, I was assigned a topic to present on with a bunch of other students. I knew that I would mess this up. I was nervous about it the entire week. I was given some time to prepare and coordinate with other students. To make matters worse, I was told to head the group presentation. The presentation was about Lingual Differences among countries.

When the day came, I was so nervous that I was praying the presentation to be cancelled. I tried to hold my nerves. I could not even quit because this presentation had direct relation to my CGPA. Nonetheless, my fellow students delivered the presentation and the nervousness caused me to forget my part completely. I got so nervous there that I could not utter a single word. Thankfully, my classmates were not a bully. They cheered me up by clapping for me. At the end, I was able to deliver my presentation, but the nervousness was quite visible.

The teacher told me that it is completely fine to feel that way. It was your first time and you will feel more confident in coming presentations. I took that advice and worked on myself. It did took some time, but I did fine in other presentations.
I still find it hard to speak in front of a full class of students who are so silent and listening to you with focus and judgment in their eyes. I realized that we have to control our nerves in such situations. All of such moments feel intense then, but are a funny memory after a few years.

It used to be like that and it happens to alot of poeple especially when you must not make a mistake in a particular presentation

Someone had a nerve-racking experience with his presentation, I can relate to the struggle of speaking in front of a silent audience, you will feel as though they are judging you with their eyes. It's great that you were able to push through. Thank you for sharing.

I can relate to your experience expecially bring an introvert. I am an introvert too and it took me a long time to feel confident when making a presentation or giving speech to a multitude. I had to train myself when I noticed I become nervous in crowd. Now, I am more confident to speak in public and I am happy about it.

I understand the feeling, my first time of doing a presentation was nerve racking for me but after a while it becomes easier I guess and it really becomes a funny memory.
