It is well known that a picture is worth a thousand words, but watching a video is caressing our senses with audiovisual information that touches our soul.

I have always felt attracted to capture moments in a photo, and to make my own videos on vacations, events and outdoor outings with family or friends.

It's a passion that allows you to crystallize on analog film or digital media those moments that are important and that we can replay over the years.

Although our conscience treasures the memories we have, over time we forget the details. To see one of these recordings years later is to relive and bring emotions to the surface.

For this reason, I would like to share with you some of the video cameras that I have bought and others that have been given to me.

Kodak Brownie Movie Camera

A camera from the 50's, made in USA. This model gives us 3 lenses of different sizes, whose arrangement gives it an attractive and differentiated design. Its metallic construction makes it strong against time and shocks.

It comes with a folding rear sight, which we must align to another front sight, very similar to when we aim with the sight of a rifle.

When it opens on its side, it shows us the space where we insert a 8mm film, to give us as a result a video recorded at 16 frames per second.

JVC model GR-AX30U

It has been 44 years, with respect to the model presented above. This JVC camcorder was released in 1994. It brings us a technological advance in its performance, but the materials of its construction are more flimsy as it is made of plastic.

The storage is done in a cassette with tape, called VHS compact or VHS-C. Its analog recording is of good quality and in color. The audio is monaural and has a black and white electronic viewfinder. The optical zoom is 12x.

It has a charger with capacity to power 2 simultaneous batteries. Something practical of this type of cassette, is that it could be coupled to a standard VHS cassette adapter, and thus we could see what was recorded in a video player of that type of format.

Sony Hi8 model CCD-TRV58

This 2001 camera was a gift I received from my sister. I recorded many beautiful family moments with it, including the birth of my children.

It comes with a light source and incorporates a slim rectangular time display. It uses 8 mm analog tape and is capable of recording at night in low light.

It has 20x optical zoom and a 2,5 inches folding LCD screen to visualize the scene to be recorded and its final result.

Sony Hi8 model CCD-TRV128

Camcorder of the year 2004. It has the same features as the previous model, but with a smaller size that makes it more portable.

Panasonic model NV-MS4

Here we have a larger 1990 model, which can be supported on the shoulder for stability, carrying handle and its own hard plastic protective case.

Recording is on VHS or S-VHS tapes. It has LCD screen, long microphone for stereo recording, electronic viewfinder with a large rubber seat that fits well in the eye area. It also allows video recording in low light conditions thanks to its night mode.

It has AV output in case we want to export the recorded video to a TV, as well as a slot to store the content in a SD memory.

Panasonic model AG-DVX100

Digital video camera from 2002 that rewards us with high quality videos. With a beautiful professional design, a lens from the famed German brand Leica. Ease of grip by the arrangement of its handle, a LCD folding screen 3.5 inches, color viewfinder, optical image stabilization, brings several types of connections including connectors for microphones XLR type.

Here we achieve a video recording of 24 frames per second, which gives us a result similar to a film recording.

A camera using small cassette or Mini DV, for digital recording in standard format.

It fills me with satisfaction to see how my children are starting to use these technologies to give them a creative use. My son Andrés uses digital cameras in his autonomous audiovisual project; but sometimes they use some of these old video cameras when they want to make an analog recording or to recreate a vintage atmosphere in a video clip or a promotional advertisement of a restaurant with that style.

There is a reality that no one will be able to escape from and it is related to the topic:

At the right time, our lives will be projected like a movie in our consciousness.
