GETTR?! No Thanks, Waiting for Project Blank To Be Launched... Soon

avatar

I don't know if Jack Dorsey knew about GETTR when he stepped down from the twitter's CEO chair, about a month ago, but it seems that there's a new alternative to twitter lately, that's aggressively promoted on the blue bird social media app.

All sort of celebrities, from Joe Rogan to "covid-19 conspiracy theorists" are migrating lately from twitter to GETTR. They say they had enough with the censorship and twitter has proved to be no stranger of that, and enough is enough.

What is GETTR?

It is Former Trump spokesman's new social media platform but the way I see it, it's nothing more, but a clone and an alternative to twitter. Still a centralized app, no blockchain involved, that "promises to not stay in the way of free speech" and to comfort the ones getting banned and censored on twitter and facebook.

I have created myself an account, yesterday evening, but after downloading the app, or at least trying to download it to my phone, I quit it... I have no clue why, but the app asks to verify your age and to do that you have to go to your google account and "prove your 18".

No thanks. I've had enough with KYC and all this verify my age crap. If the watchdogs of the internet would really care that much about under age not being exposed to shit on the internet, then they would do something about porn site.

These have easier "to penetrate" ways of proving your 18 than this damn alternative to twitter has. Hence, I'm not using it. I have the account created, I even had a first post sharing my latest Hive article with it, but will skip GETTR.

I'll wait instead for project blank. I trust blockchain more than I trust anything in the world right now and I have no doubt that this "Hive, Leofinance branded, twitter alternative" will rock. I get the ones searching for alternatives of the old centralized social media platforms, but I don't get why aren't they looking more into blockchain.

It's like they're praising all the attributes decentralized blockchain has, all day everyday, but when it comes to "living that", instead of just talking about it, the majority are failing. I'm sticking with Hive. Will use twitter as well, for as long as possible, but I'm not bothering with GETTR anymore.

What about you, have you tried, what's your take on it?

Thanks for attention,
Adrian

I really need that. I got the cold second time in a month... It never happened to me. Hope to kick it out in a couple of days.

I don't particularly like keychain. I use hivesigner, but I had enough with the traditional social media websites, not gonna bother with this gettr app.

The censorship has only gotten worst on Twitter after Dorsey left and I don't think GETTR will be any better for being a centralized media. I am waiting for Project Blank as well and I don't think I would want to verify my age through my gmail either.

Once any of these alternative platforms become popular enough they will come under scrutiny unless they are decentralized... But my guess is we'll see a lot of alternative social media platforms popping up in the coming years, and people will be more drawn to the ones that actually provide them with some income.

This year is for me and my hive account I don't know why they are verifying your age to be above 18 they should help us divert the energy to porn site.

GETTR should be, at best, viewed as temporary backup option in case some malevolent algorithm decides to kick you off Twitter. Nothing more and nothing less. And it would probably lose any purpose once Project Blank kicks in.
