Something like a week ago I had a post on Pinmaple with some of the buildings from a town nearby and the intention of the post was to underly the decaying state in which some of the finest architecture that Romania used to have is currently reflected by these dying architectural beauties. It's sad to see how the corrupt leaders that this country has, managed to ruin almost everything they couldn't profit from.

While strolling to the center of the above-mentioned town(Baile Herculane), I took some other pics aside from those of the old buildings, and as you can see for yourselves from these ones, during spring this part of the town is not too crowded at all. And it's the freaking downtown...

As a matter of fact, the area where you find the sports betting shops and the slot machines is way more populated than the very downtown of the city. There is something quite big and bold, throning over the community from the center of the citadel and this is the mammoth tree, or the Wellingtonia Gigantea.

This thing is huge and it's probably one of the few, if not the only one in my country. How did it get here? I have no clue, but it sure looks majestic, but as in the case of the old buildings it seems that it's not taken care of as it should be...

They haven't even fenced it so the crowds won't get too close and harm it. You can literally throw knives at it if you're dumb enough to do so... And... According to a blog post I found about the tree, it seems that it is quite young, but despite being in its early age, the height is impressive...

It is 30 meters high and it is supposed to have a circumference of 5 meters and a diameter of 1.5 meters. That's huge by my standards. I wish I had a drone to record the surroundings of it so you can have a better picture of what I'm describing here. Maybe after taking some bull market profits I'll buy one...

Meanwhile...

Sequoiadendron giganteum (giant sequoia; also known as giant redwood, Sierra redwood, Sierran redwood, California big tree, Wellingtonia or simply big tree—a nickname also used by John Muir[3]) is the sole living species in the genus Sequoiadendron, and one of three species of coniferous trees known as redwoods, classified in the family Cupressaceae in the subfamily Sequoioideae, together with Sequoia sempervirens (coast redwood) and Metasequoia glyptostroboides (dawn redwood).

Giant sequoia specimens are the most massive trees on Earth.[4] The common use of the name sequoia usually refers to Sequoiadendron giganteum, which occurs naturally only in groves on the western slopes of the Sierra Nevada mountain range of California.

How the hell did it get all the way from California to this place is beyond my imagination...

As I mentioned in the introduction of the post, and as you can see for yourselves from the pictures of this post, the town is not very crowded these days, but this will change in a month or two from now when the tourist season will commence. Soon the streets will be full of people and you will hardly find a place to park... anywhere.

The same situation will occur in my shitty hometown as well... But until then, it's time to enjoy the silence we have and the fresh air of spring that we're blessed with. Time to go out now. I wish you all a great Saturday and see you next time.

Thanks for your attention,
Adrian

That Sequoia tree is impressive when we look at it in reality.
