That Guy Who Bought Bitcoin at $6K. Rethinking "Time in The Market"...

avatar

I bought my first computer at the age of 16 years old... It was back in 2002. Rephrase: my father bought me my first computer when I was 16 years old, the only thing that was mine over there was the configuration. I really wanted a top-notch PC and I got it.

I still remember the configuration I had on that thing, it was a 2.2 GHz AMD processor that was clocked to work at 1.6 GHz. I don't know why but AMD was advertising their processors at higher power than they were actually able to handle. Believe it or not, but I had a 64 MB video card on it at that time.

Man, 64 MB video cards are so outdated now. I was the man in the neighborhood with an 80 GB hard drive though. You can't imagine the amount of pirated movies and music I had stored on that thing. It didn't have an internet connection, though. Its only purpose was to play pirated PC games, listen to pirated music and watch alike movies.

Oh, and I somehow was a pirate myself as well, cuz I had a CD writer and I was burning track CDs for my friends using the pirated music I had. Romania was such a wild west at that time. As a matter of fact, I had someone who actually bought the internals of that PC separately, assembled them, and sold the whole package to me. It was brand new, but it was not bought from any store.

Yes, I know, some of you can't even grasp what I'm pointing out, but after the 90s and into the early 2000's we had our wildest after the communist times in here when almost anyone could do almost anything. Somehow it was better back then than it is now with all the constrictive bullshit laws and regulations we have.

The guy who sold me the PC back then is living in Germany for a few years now. He's working in IT, has a family and he's been a BTC HODLer since $6K. I know that from a common friend of ours. I actually lost touch with him soon after buying the PC from him, but this common friend told me about him and BTC.

I didn't say it loud, but I was thinking: man I'm in crypto since BTC was $3K and I can't call myself an early adopter and this guy thinks the computer guy is for buying BTC at $6K. I'm a bigger OG than this guy is... theoretically. When looking at my portfolio and the cash I have earned from this thing, it doesn't reflect any OGness of myself. As a matter of fact, the crypto reality I'm living in is more like a newbie rather than an OG.

We often say that time in the market is more precious than timing the market. Well, that could be true, but at the end of the day, it matters a lot what you've done during that time spent in the market. I haven't done anything spectacular in this regard. I have mostly been a watcher.

There's this guy on youtube, some other Romanian fellow, who's been in crypto for just one year or so and he's made tons more money than I did in a way lower time frame of exposure to crypto. That's because he got the trick... He noticed that crypto gaming is a new and thriving trend and got early in all sorts of projects, in some of them he managed to get in really really early.

The man is an entrepreneur. He's been in that position before discovering crypto. I on the other hand am a working man who's been "transitioning to entrepreneurship" for five years now. I won't say I regret the time spent in this space, but I realize that being an early adopter doesn't guarantee you anything.

The same goes for Hive, although with this one I have a more fulfilling experience. It's actually the only thing I'm really proud of regarding my experience with crypto. Hive has rewarded me in so many ways that no other project has done so far. If I were to put the finger on what made "time in the market" worth spending, it is definitely Hive.

The man who sold me my first PC, who was a computer expert at that time, got later than I did in the crypto game, some dude on the internet who's been in crypto for just one year now is doing tremendously better in comparison to me, but I'm the one who's most active in WEB3 ;).

@taskmaster4450 had an article yesterday entitled Cryptocurrency: It Will Either Make Us All Rich...Or Totally Broke. It got me thinking... These topics I tackled in my post got me thinking as well, and the conclusion I got to is that yes, crypto will either make me rich or totally broke. It all depends on how I make my time in the market.

Thanks for your attention,
Adrian

This is so convincing. And I agree. It made me remember something someone told me once. And he said, 'its doesn't matter who gets in first, what matters is who does best'. Right now, you are saying the same thing.

The fact that one got in early enough doesn't really matter if they weren't able to make great use of the exposure.

Thank goodness Hive changes that narrative for you to some extent. So you could be upset about not being able to use your BTC period well, now, Hive had provided an opportunity to right those wrongs.

Thanks for sharing, sir.

Just keep building some Hive slowly and you will outperform everyone else who is holding coins.
