TV Series Review: The River (2012). Adventure and terror in the Amazon jungle

The River is a television series that was released in 2012. I have recently watched this series, and my impressions of it have been, in general, positive. It's not a series that we can compare with the best ones ever made, but if you're looking to hang out with your family, this series will surely leave you satisfied. Mysteries, adventure, paranormal events in the Amazon jungle, this particular genre and environment, although it is quite recurrent in movies and series, never fails to please.

It is not a series that stands out in many aspects, but as I mentioned at the beginning, if you are looking to hang out with your family or friends, this series can be ideal, although of course not in the presence of children.

Not only strange things happen, but everyone's life is in danger, and many times it is considered to abandon the search, but the main opponent to this idea is precisely the explorer's wife.

A medida que nos adentramos en la historia, todos se internan en un río de la selva amazónica en la búsqueda del Dr Emmet Cole, y sucesos paranormales empiezan a hacerse presentes. Cada vez hay más misterio en torno a la desaparición del famoso explorador. Al mismo tiempo, el peligro aumenta. No solo cosas extrañas suceden sino que la vida de todos está en peligro, y muchas veces se plantea abandonar la búsqueda, pero la principal oponente a esta idea es precisamente la esposa del explorador.

Each of the characters is unique and interesting. And each has reason to be suspicious of the other in the midst of it all, as this is what can happen in survival situations. Each episode brings up different situations, from possessions to meeting another mysterious crew. The paranormal aspect is always present. The story goes that this was originally going to be a low-budget film, but Steven Spielberg saw the possibility of creating a television series. Despite the low budget, the result, in my opinion, was quite good, although some episodes were a bit weak, especially one that if I'm not mistaken is N°4.

Cada uno de los personajes es único e interesante. Y cada uno tiene razones para sospechar del otro en medio de todo esto, ya que es lo que puede suceder en situaciones de supervivencia. Cada episodio plantea situaciones diferentes, desde posesiones hasta encuentro con otra tripulación misteriosa. Siempre está presente el aspecto paranormal. Se cuenta que originalmente esta iba a ser una película de bajo presupuesto, pero Steven Spielberg vió la posibilidad de crear una serie de televisión. A pesar del bajo presupuesto, el resultado, en mi opinión, fue bastante bueno, a pesar de que algún que otro episodio estuvo algo flojo, especialmente uno que si no me equivoco es el N°4.

The production team of the famous explorer, along with his film crew, are also on the ship recording every aspect of the search, with the aim of creating a documentary. This gives another focus to the series, where we also see cameras recording inside the series. The ending is a bit unexpected, as the story goes down a path that is difficult to predict, and even more so when it takes place in the middle of the Amazon jungle, ending in unexpected places and situations, and at the same time, with the presence of the paranormal.

No solo se encuentran en la búsqueda del explorador perdido. El equipo de producción del famoso explorador, en conjunto con su equipo de grabación, también se encuentra en el barco grabando cada aspecto de la búsqueda, con el objetivo de crear un documental. Esto da otro enfoque a la serie, donde también vemos cámaras grabando dentro de la misma. El final es un poco inesperado, pues la historia se va por un camino di´ficil de predecir, y más aún cuando se desarrolla en medio de la selva amazónica, terminando así en lugares y situaciones inesperadas, y a la vez, con la presencia de lo paranormal.
