The best decision

We often give up before we even start, and although I always remembered the phrase my mother used to repeat to me: “Trying doesn't mean succeeding,” I only applied it in certain situations.

For some reason that I still can't quite figure out, I have greatly underestimated myself in some areas, simply believing that I couldn't do it and therefore giving up before I even started, especially when it came to buying things like appliances. I don't know if it's just in my country, but here the really good ones are expensive.

Two years ago, a coworker encouraged me to participate with her and other people in something called a “bolso,” which is a form of savings. In this case, you commit to paying a certain amount each month, and each participant receives the total amount collected in a given month. So last year, if I remember correctly, I received $600, with which I bought my current mattress and was able to pay for my son's return ticket from Peru.

So, without fear, I took on the challenge again this year, and this time I was able to buy the stove I wanted. At first, in order to make other purchases, I seriously considered a smaller stove, but after thinking it over, I decided to go for the stove I had been dreaming of, especially since its size was ideal, as I had found that smaller ones were not functional in my home.

Thanks to finally deciding to take a risk and believe in myself, I have taken steps toward finding solutions and realized that I can face challenges and save up for important purchases if I set my mind to it.

Believing in yourself, taking risks, and then focusing on achieving a goal is essential to realizing what we are capable of, that we can handle big or small challenges, and that often to achieve a goal you have to sacrifice a little, but you achieve what you want, that is, you see the results.

So taking a risk and believing that I could do it was a big change, and I'm glad I made the decision that now makes me see things differently, especially because I saw results that I enjoy. Every time I sleep peacefully on my mattress, I'm happy. Now when I see my new kitchen just the way I wanted it, I celebrate, and so do I with other things like the kitchen counter that wasn't in the plans and had to be redone due to an emergency, and the box I bought at the beginning of this year to go with my mattress.

Before the end of the year, I have a few smaller goals that I still want to achieve, and for next year, I want to pamper myself a little, for example, I have almost no clothes, and my glasses are scratched, so I think I need to get my prescription checked, to mention the first things that come to mind, but in general, I proved to myself that I can take on challenges and achieve them on all levels.

So I bid farewell to my participation in Ladies of Hive Community Contest #264.

Muchas veces nos rendimos antes de empezar, y aunque siempre tuve presente la frase que tanto me repetía mi madre: - Tocar no es entrar, solo la aplicaba en ciertas situaciones.

Por algún motivo que todavía no determino exactamente, me he subestimado mucho en algunos aspectos, creyendo simplemente que no podía y por ello me rendía antes de empezar, sobre todo en temas de adquirir algunas cosas como electrodomésticos, no sé si sea solo en mi país, pero aquí los realmente buenos son costosos.

Hace ya dos años una compañera de trabajo me animo a participar con ella y otras personas en algo a lo que se le llama bolso, lo cual es una forma de ahorro, en este caso se adquiere un compromiso de pagar cierta cantidad mensual y a cada uno de los participantes le corresponde recibir el monto total de lo reunido en un determinado mes, así el año pasado yo recibí si mal no recuerdo 600 dólares, con ellos compre mi actual colchón y puede costear el pasaje de regreso de mi hijo desde Perú.

Así que sin temor este año también asumí el reto y esta vez logre comprarme una cocina como yo la quería, en un principio y en aras de hacer otras compras pensé seriamente en una cocina más pequeña y luego de pensarlo bien decidí que me camparía la cocina que yo soñaba, además que su tamaño era la ideal, porque más pequeña había probado no ser funcional en casa.

Gracias a que por fin decidí arriesgarme y creer en que puedo, he dado pasos en pro de soluciones y que puedo afrontar retos y ahorrar para hacer compras importantes si me lo propongo.

Creer en uno mismo, arriesgarse y luego enfocarse en alcanzar una meta, es fundamental para darnos cuenta de lo que somos capaces, de que si podemos con retos grandes o pequeños y de que muchas veces para lograr una meta hay que sacrificar un poco, pero se logra lo que se desea, es decir se ven los resultados.

Así que arriesgarme y creer que podía fue todo un cambio y me alegró de haber tomado la decisión que ahora me hace ver las cosas de forma diferente y sobre todo porque vi resultados que disfruto, cada vez que duermo plácidamente en mi colchón soy feliz, ahora cuando veo mi cocina nueva tal como yo la quería celebro, y así con otras cosas como el mesón de la cocina que no estaba en planes y por emergencia se tuvo que rehacer y el box que compre comienzos de este año, para que acompañara a mi colchón.

Antes de terminar el año tengo algunas metas más pequeñas que todavía deseo alcanzar y para el año que viene deseo hacerme un cariñito a mí como persona, por ejemplo, no tengo casi ropa, por otro lado, los cristales de mis lentes están rallados y creo que amerita que revise la fórmula, por mencionar lo primero que viene a mi mente, pero en líneas generales me probé a mí misma puedo asumir retos y lograrlos en todo plano.
