Happy Caturday, for all my dear feline-loving friends, today October 29th, is celebrated in the USA the National Cat Day, this proposal is focused spatially with the purpose of generating awareness in the population, about the amount of cats abandoned on the streets of the cities, to give a second chance to those who have been born in them and not to abandon those who are at home.

Although this event is celebrated mainly in the USA, I think it is very timely to make a call around the world to avoid the abandonment of these furry cats, I know of countless cases in which cats are adopted to hunt mice and then for lack of education, timely sterilization or true love for the feline is thrown into the street believing that it will be able to fend for itself.

¡Feliz Caturday!, para todos mis queridos amigos amantes de los felinos, hoy 29 de octubre, se celebra en EEUU el Día Nacional del Gato, esta propuesta se enfoca espacialmente con el propósito de generar conciencia en la población, sobre la cantidad de gatos abandonados por las calles de las ciudades, en darles una segunda oportunidad a los que han nacido en ellas y a no abandonar aquellos que se tienen en hogar.

Aunque esta efeméride se celebre principalmente en EEUU, creo que es muy oportuno el hacer un llamado alrededor del mundo, para evitar el abandono de estos peludos, conozco infinidad de casos, en los que los gatos son adoptados para cazar ratones y luego por falta de educación, esterilización oportuna o de verdadero amor por el felino este es arrojado a la calle creyendo que podrá valerse solo.

In previous publications I have mentioned that both a cat and a dog raised in a home, does not have the experience, antibodies and skills of an animal that has been born and raised in the street, so throwing it to the streets is to throw it to its certain death, its only salvation would be that someone adopts it quickly, because its average life in the street will be approximately 4 months.

For all of the above, I ask you please, that before buying or adopting a cat, think about if you are really willing to offer it everything it needs during its approximately 15 years of life or more, this implies that you educate it, feed it properly, vaccinations, visits to the vet and much more, above all, love.

En anteriores publicaciones les he mencionado que tanto un gato como un perro criado en un hogar, no cuenta con la experiencia, anticuerpos y tampoco con las habilidades de un animal que ha nacido y crecido en la calle, por ello lanzarlo a las calles es arrojarlo a su muerte segura, su única salvación seria que alguien lo adopte rápidamente, pues su promedio de vida en la calle será de aproximadamente 4 meses.

Por todo lo anterior, te pido por favor, que antes de comprar o adoptar un gato, pienses en sí de verdad estás dispuesto a ofrecerle todo lo necesario durante sus aproximadamente 15 años de vida o más, esto implica que lo eduques, alimentes de manera apropiada, vacunas, visitas al veterinario y mucho más, sobre todo amor.

Likewise, cats in street conditions, live approximately 5 years, go hungry, cold and sick, without having someone who can help them properly or continuously and often die alone without having felt the love of a person or a family.

Here I share with you some pictures of one of my smallest cats, her name is Greta and she is very active, her mother appeared in the gardens of the Urbanization and she had kittens twice, the last of her litters was the one in which Greta was born, after that birth, I looked for a way to sterilize her, because in both occasions, giving her children for adoption was not an easy task and to avoid leaving any kitten in the street and to extend the life of the cat, I sterilized her.

Igualmente, los gatos en condición de calle, viven aproximadamente 5 años, pasan hambre, frío y enferman, sin contar con alguien que los pueda ayudar de manera correcta o continua y muchas veces mueren solos sin haber sentido el amor de una persona o de una familia.

Por acá les comparto algunas fotos de una de mis gatas más pequeñas, ella se llama Greta y es muy activa, su madre apareció en los jardines de la Urbanización y tuvo gatitos dos veces, la última de sus camadas fue en la que nació Greta, luego de ese parto, busqué la manera de esterilizarla, pues en las dos ocasiones, dar a sus hijos en adopción no fue tarea fácil y para evitar dejar algún gatito en la calle y alargar la vida de la gata, la esterilicé.
