Esotericism (ENG/ SPA)
Reading allows us to know the world, new places, travel to other countries and universes, meet people, characters and even species that we did not know existed, also customs and experiences, all thanks to the wonderful descriptions and illustrations that the authors use in their works, in the case of the author Francisco Antonio Barrientos CH, the more I read his book "Tales and traditions of my dear Táriba" the more I know about this land and the state of Táchira in general, the chapter I will share with you today is titled:
Esotericism
Reading the title of this chapter I create expectations in my mind, I immediately wondered if it would be referring only to the customs related to this term, present in this area of the country, if it would be about skepticism by the author or the inhabitants of the area, regarding this issue or if it would be something satirical, perhaps all of the above, but first things first, what is esotericism, perhaps someone does not understand the whole term and it is good to clarify.
Esotericism is a set of knowledge hidden to the senses and impenetrable to the mind therefore difficult to understand. Esotericism comes from the combination of the Greek root eso meaning inner side with the suffix -ism which is defined as knowledge framed within a series of traditions, doctrines, teachings and / or rites.
As is to be expected and already customary, the author makes an introduction where he effectively reminds us that in this country as around the world esotericism is something millennial and that even though there are laws that have officialized religions, as well as atheism, in addition to the fact that it has been evangelized and that science does not believe in anything supernatural, there are always those who believe in events of this type and also, there are those who although not very convinced, leave something to the expectation.
This chapter is composed of four parts, each one narrates the author's own experiences regarding the esoteric and what I read surprised me, the titles of these experiences are:
- The prayer of the cattle
- The Sick Hand
- The Empty Tomb
- The Mysterious Light
As I already pointed out, I thought that due to the cultured nature of the author, which is noticeable in the chapters already read, what I would find would be a review of something seen with skeptical eyes in terms of popular beliefs, but these experiences of the author caught me, because in each one of them he narrates events he personally experienced, which showed him that even if we do not believe in something it does not mean that it does not exist.

The first of his experiences El rezo del ganado tells us how in a somewhat ironic way he told his wife that to cure the cattle his grandfather should resort to a graduate specialist instead of a man to pray, to his surprise this man who was quite far away from him and separated by walls and many meters, when he saw him he told him that he would leave a halter under a handle and to his astonishment, the prayers of that man achieved what he did not believe possible.
As for The sick hand, his wife contracted a strong infection in her hands, she could not do any kind of work or activity with them, they had visited countless doctors and specialists, no one gave a diagnosis or solution and someone suggested that they visit a man who could help her through prayers, so after his wife attended several times, her hands were healed and returned to normal.
The title of the third narrated experience The Empty Tomb, brought to my mind the resurrection of Christ due to its title, but here the difference is that the tomb already prepared for his little daughter who had an extremely high fever and that no doctor could control or diagnose, was due to what is called Black Eye Disease and only with prayers the girl managed to heal and therefore the tomb that had been prepared in view of the seriousness of the child was empty.
As for the last story The Mysterious Light, this made me think or remember the many stories we have heard of cursed houses or inhabited by supernatural beings, whatever name you can give them, a place so dark that forced the family to leave the place at night and left in his youngest daughter body marks, imagine that after being visited by a priest, the suggestion was to move and so far those who have inhabited the house do not last long in it.
In summary, this chapter left me pleasantly impressed, it has a lot of description which allows us to imagine the events, plus it shows us how the man, author of this book went from a complete skeptic to respect things outside his domain and that he did not understand, here I say goodbye hoping that like me this chapter will encourage you to change your way of seeing some things, also to accompany me with the reading of the remaining chapters and also to leave me a comment.
La lectura, nos permite conocer mundo, lugares nuevos, viajar a otros países y universos, conocer personas, personajes y hasta especies que nos sabíamos que existían, también costumbres y vivencias, todo esto gracias las maravillosas descripciones e ilustraciones, que los autores utilizan en sus obras, en el caso del autor Francisco Antonio Barrientos CH, mientras mas leo su libro “Cuentos y tradiciones de mi Táriba Querida” mas conozco de esta tierra y del estado Táchira en general, el capitulo que compartiré hoy con ustedes lleva por título:
Esoterismo
Leer el titulo de este capitulo creo expectativas en mi mente, de inmediato me pregunte si sería referente solo a las costumbres relativas a este término, presentes en esta zona del país, si trataría de escepticismo por parte del autor o de los habitantes de la zona, respecto a este tema o si seria algo satírico, tal vez todas las anteriores, pero primero lo primero ¿Qué es esoterismo?, tal vez alguien no menaje de todo el término y es bueno aclarar.
El esoterismo es un conjunto de conocimientos ocultos a los sentidos e impenetrable para la mente por lo tanto difícil de entender. Esoterismo proviene de la combinación de la raíz griega eso que significa lado interior con el sufijo -ismo que se define como los conocimientos enmarcados dentro de una serie de tradiciones, doctrinas, enseñanzas y / o ritos.
Como es de esperarse y ya costumbre, el autor nos hace una introducción donde efectivamente nos recuerda que en este país como alrededor del mundo el esoterismo es algo milenario y que aun existiendo leyes que han oficializado religiones, así como el ateísmo, además de que se ha evangelizado y de que la ciencia no cree en nada sobrenatural, siempre hay quien cree en eventos de este tipo y de que además, están lo que aunque no muy convencidos, dejan algo a la expectativa.
Este capitulo se compone de cuatro partes, cada una narra experiencias propias del autor en cuanto a lo esotérico y lo que leí me sorprendió, los títulos de estas experticias o vivencias son:
- El rezo del ganado
- La mano enferma
- La Tumba Vacía
- La Luz misteriosa
Como ya señalé creí que por lo culto que ha demostrado ser el autor, cosa que es notable en los capítulos ya leídos, lo que encontraría seria una reseña de algo visto con ojos de escepticismo en cuanto a creencias populares, pero estas vivencias del autor me atraparon, pues en cada una de ellas narra eventos vividos personalmente, que le mostraron que aunque no creamos en algo no significa que no existe.
La primera de sus vivencias El rezo del ganado nos narra como de manera un poco irónica le comento a su esposa que para curar el ganado su abuelo debía recurrir a un especialista graduado en lugar de a un hombre para que le rezara, para su sorpresa este hombre que estaba bastante alejado de él y separado por paredes y muchos metros, al verlo le señalo que dejaría un cabestro debajo de un mango y para su asombro, los rezos de aquel hombre lograron lo que él no creyó posible.
En cuanto a La mano enferma, su esposa contrajo una fuerte infección en las manos, no podía hacer ningún tipo de labor o actividad con ellas, habían visitado infinidad de médicos y especialistas, nadie daba diagnostico o solución y alguien le sugirió que visitaran a un hombre que podría ayudarla por medio de rezos, así después de que su esposa asistiera en varias oportunidades, sus manos estas sanaron y volvieron a la normalidad.
El título de la tercera vivencia narrada La Tumba Vacía, trajo a mi mente la resurrección de Cristo debido a su título, pero aquí la diferencia se da en cuanto a que la tumba ya preparada para su pequeña hija quien tenía una fiebre exageradamente alta y que ningún doctor logro controlar ni diagnosticar, se debió a lo que se denomina Mal del ojo Negro y solo con rezos la niña logro sanar y por ello la tumba que se había preparado en vista de la gravedad de la criatura quedo vacía.
En cuanto al último relato *** La Luz misteriosa***, esto me hizo pensar o recordar las tantas historias que hemos escuchado de casas malditas o habitadas por seres sobrenaturales, sea cualquier el nombre que se les pueda dar, un lugar tan oscuro que obligó a la familia a salir del lugar en horas de la noche y que dejo en su hija menor marcas corporales, imagínense que tras ser visitado por un sacerdote, la sugerencia fue que se mudaran y hasta ahora los que han habitado la casa no duran mucho tiempo en ella.
En resumen, este capitulo me dejo gratamente impresionada, tiene mucha descripción lo que nos permite imaginar los acontecimientos, además de que nos muestra como el hombre, autor de este libro paso de un completo escéptico a respetar las cosas fuera de su dominio y que no entendía, aquí me despido esperando que al igual que a mi este capítulo los anime a cambiar su manera de ver algunas cosas, también a acompañarme con la lectura de los capítulos restantes y además a dejarme un comentario.

Esotericism is am interesting concept too.
Esotericism is a subject that has a lot of material and there are definitely many opinions about it, I loved this book, but of all the chapters, so far I love this one because of the frankness of the author in terms of the sincerity of his experiences with this subject.
