Un día que regresaba de laborar, me encontré a una vecina mientras daba un poseo con su perrito, el cual lleva por nombre Kaiser, ella me pregunto cómo podía enseñarle algunas cosas a una gata que ahora tenía en casa, de inmediato le dije: ¡que bueno que adoptaste una gata!, ella sonrió y me dijo: “yo no la adopte, ella me adopto a mí”, las risas no faltaron de parte de ambas, esta no es la primera ni la última vez que he escuchado o visto esto ocurrir. Aunque no tengo una respuesta basada en estudios o algún artículo que hable especialmente de este tema voy a plasmar algunas vivencias de este tipo y mi opinión personal acerca de porque esto ocurre.
One day when I was coming back from work, I met a neighbor while she was having a walk with her puppy, named Kaiser, she asked me how she could teach some things to a cat she now had at home, I immediately told her: "good thing you adopted a cat", she smiled and told me: "I did not adopt her, she adopted me", we both laughed, this is not the first or the last time I have heard or seen this happen. Although I don't have an answer based on studies or any article that talks specifically about this topic, I am going to share some experiences of this type and my personal opinion about why this happens.
La primera vez que vi esto ocurrir fue en casa, Catire, un gato que tuvimos en casa, el alfa y padrote de la Urbanización, llego a la puerta de la casa con una gata cálico, a la cual mi hermana comenzó a colocarle alimento allí, de inmediato le dije: “si le das comida en lo que nos descuidemos estará aquí adentro”, de esta manera llego Manchita a casa la más viejita de la manada desconocemos su edad exacta, o de donde procede, tiene aproximadamente 17 años, sufre de artrosis y después que entro y decidió quedarse, adopto a mi madre.

Leerán y escucharan historias como: “venía por la calle y de repente salió un gato o gatito en mi camino y no pude dejarlo en ese lugar, su carita y mirada fueron tan tiernas que lo tomé y lo traje a casa, como notaran son ellos los que nos encuentran a nosotros, nos miran fijamente, maúllan, se nos acercan, nos miran con esos ojos y no tenemos más opciones que llevarlos a nuestra casa y dejar que cambien nuestra vida. En otras ocasiones, parecen saber cuál es la casa de ese humano que los recibirá gustosos, les dará amor y su vez ellos darán horas de compañía, risas y permitirán a ese humano conocer más acerca de los felinos en caso de nunca haber tenido uno antes.

Particularmente tengo un imán para encontrar gatos en la calle, sobre todo bebes que si quedan en el lugar en el que están muy seguramente morían, ya sea atropellados, atacados por un perro o por un gato más grande, o en manos de gente malvada y sádica que los pisa, los patea, los tira a la basura, en fin, así que los que encuentro, suelen terminar en mi casa, dándoles un baño y siguiendo un protocolo para luego darlos en adopción.
Otro caso de la vida real, es el de @jvb71 con quien establecí lazos de amistad por una gata que simplemente decidió vivir con él y sus perros, no sé qué hizo esta bella gordita que actualmente lleva por nombre Lupe, pero @ no se pudo resistir le abrió las puertas de su hogar, le compro arenero, alimento, collar para pulgas otro decorativo; actualmente, esta gatita es la alfa de la manada, ya que ella le dice a los perros cuándo y cómo jugar, en pocas palabras ella manda. Esta experiencia fue gratificante ya que alguien en #HIVE me abordo al considerar que tenía conocimiento para orientarle y dar respuesta a algunas de sus interrogantes, por acá pueden ver una foto de esta linda niña que acompaño a su humano mientras pintaban su nuevo hogar y luego en un puff del que se adueñó, ¿verdad que es una belleza?
I particularly have a magnet for finding cats in the street, especially babies that if left where they are would most likely die, either run over, attacked by a dog or a bigger cat, or in the hands of evil and sadistic people who step on them, kick them, throw them in the trash, in short, so the ones I find, usually end up in my house, giving them a bath and following a protocol to then give them up for adoption.
Another case of real life, is that of @jvb71 with whom I established bonds of friendship for a cat that simply decided to live with him and his dogs, I do not know what this beautiful chubby who is currently named Lupe, but @ could not resist opened the doors of his home, he bought her sandbox, food, flea collar other decorative; currently, this kitty is the alpha of the pack, as she tells the dogs when and how to play, in short she commands. This experience was gratifying since someone in #HIVE approached me considering that I had the knowledge to guide her and answer some of her questions, here you can see a picture of this cute little girl who accompanied her human while they painted her new home and then in a puff that she took possession of, isn't she a beauty?
Now why do I think cats adopt people, I think they simply know that we are or can be good to them, that we can provide shelter, water, food and affection and many times they come to us at times when we need affection and company and cats know how to provide that without invading space, plus they are excellent therapists, without uttering a single word, the mere fact of approaching them and feeling their delicious purr relaxes us a lot.
These are just some of the many stories of this type that I have heard and I hope there are many more that occur and above all that people who adopt cats if they have never had a cat or any other pet, become aware of the needs of these furry ones and give them everything they need
