Water scarcity, future or present? [ENG-SPA]

Water is life, that is what I have heard many people say, I have also read it, when you are a child you do not understand many things, but with the passing of the years, the acquired experience and maturity, you understand much of what they told us and we even repeat acts of our parents that at that time seemed annoying or that made us angry.

Now, I always remember my mother and grandmother being attentive when I was brushing my teeth and telling me on more than one occasion to turn off the faucet while brushing my teeth and they always reminded me that among the reasons to turn off the faucet and not to waste water, was first that it is a non-renewable natural resource and second that many people do not have access to drinking water and therefore it was necessary to make a rational use of it.

Likewise, I am about to turn 49 years old and I see with great concern how the water shortage increases every day, in fact, at this moment I am without a drop of water in the pipes and faucets of my house about two months ago I bought a cylindrical water tank to alleviate the situation, but it has fallen short of the situation that I will share with you.

As I mentioned to you when I was a child, very few times I knew or lived what the water shortage was, they sent water twice a week and in the building there is a tank that stores, I do not know exactly how many liters of water and with rational use lasts five or six days between the 8 apartments.

On the other hand, for a few years now they have only been sending us water once a week, they have rotated the days, but as if that were not enough, they have changed the number of hours or rather they have decreased them, before from the early hours of Saturday morning they sent us water and left it until noon on Monday, now it is arriving around 7 am on Saturday morning and before that time on Monday there is no water at least in the outlets of the garden, which is where it arrives first.

As if this were not enough, for some time they have not been sending it with enough pressure to rise and as icing on the cake, a main pipe broke a few meters down and there is a considerable pot of white water that also detracts us pressure, this has been reported by several neighbors, the nearby school and we still get no response from the responsible entities.

All this has prevented us for months that water reaches the tank and logically to the apartments as far as I keep track are 6 weeks in which the situation has become more acute and in my case I have resorted to the use of a hose that I connect to the irrigation outlet of the garden to fill the water containers and the tank, in addition to cleaning and even fill the washing machine, this although it is a solution, it is a labor that tires, because I must be attentive to open and close the hose, so the weekends although they are usually or used for these trades or part of them, have become a nightmare, because I am forced to do all the trade or to do, these days, because we do not know if the water will rise to the tank.

A few weeks ago I commented something about this situation that made me think or remember all those documentaries and programs and news that I have seen since my childhood and youth in which you see people who must go to get a little water miles away from their homes, if before I saw it as something sad and unfair, now I understand them much, much more, because living without water or with a shortage of it is terrible.

In conclusion, I believe that, although the authorities of each country are the main responsible for creating and maintaining in optimal conditions the infrastructure for their inhabitants to enjoy this vital liquid, as human beings who in theory are rational or thinking, we must use water in a reasonable and responsible way, not to waste it, this is seen in whether we allow, or do not take care of the cans no matter how small they may be that we have in the sinks, toilets, dishwashers and more that we have at home, I say goodbye leaving here a new participation in the Concurso Comunitario Damas de la Colmena #137 a big hug to all the beautiful women of this community and may you never lack water in your lives.

Saludos 🌺🌷🌹💐🥀

It just shows how fragile the water supply system is without diligent maintenance, also indicting of those charged with delivering a vital resource like water. The health of a community begins with the quality of its own water supply system.

That's right, imagine that in the middle of the pandemic they left us without water for a month and a half, it was total madness.

This is the story with many areas in my city Mumbai. There is extreme shortage in supply of water. It also reminds me of my childhood times, it was a very old building that I lived in so we could not put overhead water tanks and my dad had made arrangements of big drums to store water. Water supply would be only for 2 hours in morning 5 to 7 and then off, we had to make sure everything was filled up and if possible even finish with bathing and cleaning in those 2 hours.
