Fountain Of Knowledge Is My Origin

Welcome to my blog, everyone, I firmly believe that we are all products of a source. Each of us has a hometown, province, country home. Despite the fact that some people have not visited their hometown since they were born. But they all originated from a source.

I will discuss about my hometown in this article.

I'm a native Ekiti state, a Yoruba descendant in Nigeria.
I was born in Ekiti, where I also completed all of my education from elementary to higher institution.
I later went to the city after finishing my tertiary education.

Because we are so intelligent and cherish education, my state is regarded as the fountain of knowledge.
In Ekiti, there is usually a professor in the family.
We adore academics, and our ancestors placed a high value on education.

In addition to being intellectual, our state also emphasizes charity and respect.
We used to respect our elders, and we don't joke with respect.
My daddy taught us as children how to totally prostrate before our elderly ones.
In fact if your chest did not touch the ground ,he wouldn't accept such greetings.

Elders in Ekiti thought that if you bow down to your elders, you have received good training. On the other hand, if you don't know how to respect elders, you'll be treated badly and your parents will be told to teach you respect.

I want to discuss some notable festivals in my state.

The top on the list is "Udiroko Festival."
This important festival is annually celebrated at the state capital. Every Ado native gathers at the King Palace, namely (Ewi of Ado-Ekiti). Other dignitaries will be invited, and the Governor will be there.

On that day, there will be a lot of activities, the high chiefs will arrive in their costumes, and many families will wear various costumes.
Some people will dress in war attires, while others will dress like a masquerade.

When I initially went to the event, I was frightened when I observed some families' attire. My father informed me that they are displaying their cultural heritage.
If you are from the royal family or have a prominent chief in your family, your attire will reflect the traditions of your family.
This is a strategy for promoting cultures.

Other Festivals at Ekiti state that are interesting are :

Ogun Festival : There is a special day dedicated to celebrate Ogun ( which means God of iron)
This is majorly celebrated by a small town in Ekiti known as 'Ire'. This is a big festival in the town. Everyone will carry irons such as knives, cutlasses and dogs. They will say some prayers to the irons, that they should not have any accident.

They believe that everyone holds iron daily , and practically this is true, so far you use cutleries to eat daily. You are still under the watch of God of iron. so that is the reason they dedicate a special day to pray to the God of iron.

They will slaughter dogs after the prayer, roast them, and offer them to one another as food. They used to kill dogs because they thought they were the best hunters and that God of Iron loved dogs the most.
There are still many festivals in Ekiti, but the two I mentioned above are my favorites.

In the state,we have some natural resources. We have Ikogosi water spring, this is where warm and cold water meet. Some people came here from abroad to view this nature. It's a fantastic tourist spot and brings in a ton of money for the government.

In conclusion we are known as the master of pounded yam, because we love pounded yam with vegetables. This is is a delicious meal.

I'm wish my all friends can visit my state of origin some day and enjoy the nature that surrounds the state. You will be able to see high mountains and attend some lovely festivals.

   Thank You All For Reading

One reason I so much love the Yorubas is the way they show respect to almost everyone, whether they've known you before or not. I love that tribe so much. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for the compliment, our forefathers taught us rigorously to be respectful. If don't follow their instructions, you will be tagged as a bastard. And nobody likes to be called that.

That's the reason we are following the path they showed us.
Thank you for stopping by, you are amazing!!!
