It's a trap!... and a fraud!

One of the things that I find truly incredible that still exists today, in the middle of 2023, are tarot readings, psychics and fortune-tellers in general, since from my point of view they are total deception and of course, a fraud and a scam. I don't know how, many people continue trusting in that kind of charlatans, I understand that they may feel attracted to know what will happen in their lives, but to believe in something without any scientific basis, without serious and real studies?, I just don't get it.

The future cannot be predicted, maybe it can be estimated with statistical projections, but it would only be that, an estimate.

I will start talking about tarot readings, these are simply "interpretations" of the cards, in reality anyone can learn to read them and give their own interpretation, there are even manuals to learn to read the cards, it is nothing really special, it is not like "the cards speak to them", it is just a text that they learn and that's it, not to mention that they base their entire "reading" on a completely random card draw, really?, for that I prefer to sit down and play some poker.

Everything loses even more credibility when we find out that there are websites that perform readings, because of course, they are just images that are explained in a booklet, there is absolutely nothing special about it beyond that some decks have very nice illustrations, but for nice cards I better look for the Clow cards from Cardcaptor Sakura.

Now, let's continue with psychics and fortune-tellers, if the "tarotists" seemed to me a fraud, these also seem to me a scam, at least those who read tarot cards learn the meaning of the cards, these don't even do that. They steal money from unwary and gullible people simply with their quackery, most of them just observe the body language or non-verbal language of people to make their "predictions". The only thing special about these "fortune-tellers" is their ability to get information out of people with generic questions to give them generic answers.

Many believe them because they are in desperate situations and easily fall for the persuasions of these pseudo fortune-tellers. I once had the experience of knowing a man (my ex-father-in-law) who was guided only by what his "fortune-tellers" told him, these people were what are known as "santeros" and in exchange for HUGE sums of money, they told him what decisions he should take, needless to say that the man lost his business and was completely bankrupt until he died, the "fortune-tellers" disappeared as soon as he stopped paying them, and they said they were his friends, sure.

That is why these types of deceptions seem dangerous to me, because I saw one in the front row, there are people who really believe in these things and get carried away by people who have absolutely no real knowledge, the case of this man is one of many, vulnerable, desperate and too gullible people. Here in Mexico this type of fortune-tellers also dare to "cure" some diseases with prayers or "medicines" that they themselves manufacture, can you imagine how dangerous that is?

Another way of swindling that these "fortune-tellers" use is that if in their "reading" they notice that something is "wrong" they offer the person to perform a "cleansing", supposedly with the purpose of removing bad energies and to make things flow better in their lives, but in reality the only thing that flows is the clients' money into the pockets of these charlatans.

Of course none of these things (tarot readings, psychics and fortune-tellers) have any scientific basis, as I said at the beginning there are no facts to support them, no one has really proven their effectiveness or the existence of people with gifts. Perhaps, many may think that I am too closed-minded around this subject, but if something has no real scientific evidence it is simply a hoax, and no, it is not worth "it worked for me", that is not any kind of serious evidence, much less a documented study, it is simply a coincidence, so the only thing you are getting from me is a "good for you".

That is why instead of believing in swindlers we should seek advice from the necessary specialists (lawyers, doctors, accountants, etc.), people with real knowledge, who studied a real university degree, backed by years of proven knowledge and scientific research.

But hey, at the end of the day, everyone is free to believe in whatever they want, even if it is a fraud.

Thank you very much for reading, see you in the comments

I totally understand that you do not believe in this type of thing because there is too much scam on this subject, personally I do believe in this type of spiritual thing, let's say due to various experiences from my childhood to adulthood.

And of course I can't say for sure if the tarot is real or not because as you say everyone has their own interpretation, in case there are accurate people, unfortunately they look bad for other people who simply cheat and lie. 🤔

An interesting topic to discuss my beautiful friend, a big hug 💜

Of course, everyone has their own beliefs and that's fine, my experiences in this regard have been bad, the good thing is that I didn't live them myself.

Cheers ✌️

Sometimes, people only need a 3rd party advice and will find some words related to what they are struggling with in that moment.

Sometimes it can help take hard decision or observe with different point of view.

As an artist, always find tarot cards and after rpg cards design fascinating.

Ugh... Santeros are the worst thing in the world. There's a lot of that in the high spheres of Venezuelan government. One could argue, we are held hostage of payments to that lot.

People love to believe in these things.

I heard yesterday that when people stop believing in stuff they usually jump to another thing to believe instead of trying to understand stuff by reason.

It's just that people prefer to believe in bullshit because it's easier to blame someone else, rather than take responsibility for their own stupidity 🙈

I don't think everyone is ready to face the void of existence as a daily routine. 🤣
