But what happens when their death is the result of a supposed accident that looks like anything but an accident? That is something that would fill anyone with uneasiness and would give birth to the need to know what really happened. That is what the protagonist of Woman of the Dead experiences.

"Woman of the Dead" is an Austrian series consisting of six episodes, which are all available on Netflix. Classified within the thriller genre, the series immerses us in a dark and murky world surrounding a seemingly peaceful Austrian town. However, as the plot progresses, we realize that even the most beautiful and peaceful places can hide sinister secrets.
The story follows Lisa Blum, a funeral homeowner, who refuses to accept that her husband's death was simply a traffic accident. Determined to uncover the truth and seek justice, Lisa embarks on an intense investigation that leads her to unravel the dark secrets of her town, its inhabitants and even herself. Something that disturbed me about this series was the motive for the death of the protagonist's husband. Again, I find myself, without wanting to look for it, with a series that has a critique of an elitist society, where it seems that power and money are necessary to commit atrocities and get away with them. I know the world is full of horrible people, but seeing it reflected in production after production is overwhelming and makes me less and less eager to relate to other people. And as I said in a previous review, if this happens in European countries, I don't want to think about the amount of crap that happens in my beloved Latin America.
That was definitely one of the most shocking aspects of "Woman of the Dead " for me. The very murky picture that Lisa Blum uncovers as she progresses in her investigation, the series shows the raw and terrifying depiction of how dark and horrible human nature can be. Although there are no supernatural monsters, the series managed to move me quite a bit by portraying the existence of ruthless, sick, remorseless people who enjoy the suffering of others, capable of getting away with corruption and power.
The performances in the series are acceptable and help to maintain the necessary rhythm for the development of the plot. The protagonist, played by Anna Maria Mühe, does an outstanding job in taking us through a dangerous and heartbreaking journey, showing her character's grief and, at the same time, her thirst for revenge. While Lisa Blum's character is interesting, at times she can seem a bit over the top in terms of her abilities and actions.
Despite being an ordinary woman, she is presented in the series as an all-powerful figure capable of accomplishing completely extraordinary things. This exaggeration can be a bit off-putting and far from reality, because while adrenaline can drive people to act incredibly, some situations can seem too absurd. That, coupled with the fact that many characters were treated very superficially, was the only thing that left a bad taste in my mouth when I finished watching this series.
One aspect I would like to highlight is its visual aesthetics. The exterior scenes in the Alps are truly spectacular, in each shot they capture perfectly the imposing beauty of these, simply spectacular. On the other hand, the interior sets also look excellent to me, they convey a sense of simplicity, but also of neatness and sophistication, creating a visually beautiful experience.
While the ending of "Woman of the Dead " may have clichéd and predictable moments, overall it is an interesting series with a plot full of mystery that will keep viewers glued to their screens throughout its six episodes. It is an ideal recommendation for those looking for a short story, full of mystery, intrigue and revenge.
What I liked the most
The mystery that surrounds the town, the deceased husband and even the protagonist. As Lisa Blum conducts her investigation, she uncovers a network of criminals hidden behind the friendly facades of her acquaintances, but not only that, she also reveals and accepts her own nature.
Some of the twists and turns are so disturbing that they made me reflect on whether such monsters who deceive everyone with their apparent kindness will also exist in my life.
What I liked least
The exaggerations present in the plot. On several occasions, the protagonist finds herself in situations of extreme danger, but manages to survive surprisingly. Not to mention that she often gives the impression of being an experienced detective, when in fact she is the owner of a funeral home.
Although Lisa is a determined woman, these situations make her character seem invulnerable and all-powerful, moving away from reality and challenging the credibility of the series.

"La dama de los muertos" es una serie austríaca que consta de seis episodios, los cuales se encuentran todos disponible en Netflix. Clasificada dentro del género thriller, la serie nos sumerge en un oscuro y turbio mundo que rodea a una aparentemente pacífica ciudad austríaca. Sin embargo, a medida que avanza la trama, nos damos cuenta de que incluso los lugares más hermosos y tranquilos pueden ocultar secretos siniestros.

Y como dije en una reseña anterior, si esto pasa en países Europeos, no quiero pensar la cantidad de porquerías que pasan en mi querida Latinoamérica.
Ese definitivamente fue uno de los aspectos más impactantes de "La dama de los muertos" para mí. El panorama tan turbio que Lisa Blum descubre a medida que avanza en su investigación, la serie muestra la representación cruda y aterradora de lo oscuro y horrible que puede llegar a ser la naturaleza humana. Aunque no hay monstruos sobrenaturales, la serie logró conmoverme bastante al retratar la existencia de personas despiadadas, enfermas, sin remordimientos y que disfrutan del sufrimiento ajeno, capaces de salir impunes por corrupción y poder.
Las actuaciones en la serie son aceptables y ayudan a mantener el ritmo necesario para el desarrollo de la trama. La protagonista, interpretada por Anna Maria Mühe, realiza un trabajo bastante destacado al llevarnos a través de un viaje peligroso y desgarrador, mostrando el duelo de su personaje y a la vez, su sed de venganza. Aunque el personaje de Lisa Blum es interesante, en ocasiones puede parecer un tanto exagerado en cuanto a sus habilidades y acciones.
A pesar de ser una mujer común y corriente, en la serie la presentan como una figura todopoderosa capaz de llevar a cabo cosas completamente extraordinarias. Esta exageración puede resultar un poco desagradable y alejarse de la realidad, ya que si bien la adrenalina puede impulsar a las personas a actuar de forma increíble, algunas situaciones pueden parecer demasiado absurdas. Eso, sumado a que muchos personajes fueron tratados de forma muy superficial, fue lo único que me dejó un mal sabor de boca al terminar de ver esta serie.
Un aspecto que me gustaría destacar es su estética visual. Las escenas exteriores en los Alpes son verdaderamente espectaculares, en cada toma capturan a la perfección la belleza imponente de estos, simplemente espectaculares. Por otro lado, los sets de interiores también me parecen excelentes, transmiten una sensación de simpleza, pero también de pulcritud y sofisticación, creando una experiencia visualmente hermosa.
Si bien el final de "La dama de los muertos" puede tener momentos clichés y predecibles, en general es una serie interesante con una trama llena de misterio que mantendrá a los espectadores pegados a sus pantallas a lo largo de sus seis episodios. Es una recomendación ideal para aquellos que buscan una historia corta, llena de misterio, intriga y venganza.
Lo que más me gustó
El misterio que envuelve al pueblo, al difunto esposo e incluso a la protagonista. A medida que Lisa Blum realiza su investigación, va descubriendo una red de criminales ocultos tras las fachadas amables de sus conocidos, pero no solo eso, sino que ella también va revelando y aceptando su propia naturaleza.
Algunos giros son tan inquietantes que me hicieron reflexionar sobre si también existirán en mi vida ese tipo de monstruos que engañan a todos con su aparente amabilidad.
Lo que menos me gustó
Las exageraciones presentes en la trama. En varias ocasiones, la protagonista se encuentra en situaciones de peligro extremo, pero logra sobrevivir de manera sorprendente. Eso sin tomar en cuenta que muchas veces da la impresión de ser una detective experimentada, cuando en realidad es la dueña de una funeraria.
Aunque Lisa es una mujer decidida, estas situaciones hacen que su personaje parezca invulnerable y todopoderoso, alejándose de la realidad y desafiando la credibilidad de la serie.
