Year 2021 is about to End and I'm Looking Forward to 2022

avatar

Like last year’s post prior to the new year, I wanted to put this out so my future self can cringe about it later on. It’s only a few hours before the new year comes at my time zone while I write this. I’ll probably be looking at a microscope or doing something work related. Hopefully the people at the lab behave themselves and tone down some referrals. I got a nephrectomy specimen came in at the last minute and already seeing tomorrow’s dissection to be laborious.

This year didn't turn out too bad. It couldn't been worse but it leaned more on good things happening often despite all the worldly drama unfolding. I did accomplish most of my goals from last year so I got that going for me which is nice.

I do look back on my old posts just to reflect on some stuff I’ve been doing for the past year. I’ll likely review this post when the next year will be nearing its end as well.

Just some silly list I came up for next year’s goal setting:

Get Better at My Job

I’ve been doing it half assed even if I committed more hours to the work more than anyone else in the office. A lot of my time has been spent dragging myself to do something that actually doing it and this dents my productivity. I’m suited for the job and got no complaints to where I’m at, just got distracted with multiple priorities like cryptoinvesting.
Trying to Finish my 2021 Backlogs

I have done all but one on the list of my financial goals and it was originally on the top spot. There were some stuff that got in the way like salary delays and questioning job security that made accomplishing that difficult. Everything else is fine despite some setbacks.

More Consistency in Organizing my Blog

I scanned through the list of posts I made throughout the year and it what a load disappointment these have been. For the most part, all have been ok but some shitposts were best left posted under a different account. I’m not talking about the rewards. I’m talking about the stuff I share under this account as a hobby blogger.

I think most people don’t really mind what clutter they post under their blogs but it matters to me. Whenever I try to introduce Hive to friends, they’ll scan through the stuff I share and immediately gauge what I’ve been up to which most of the time they can’t relate. So I think having some alts to segregate some topics I want to post about helps because I expect people that follow me got interested off one topic and get disappointed finding out I got other topics also interested in.

Why the hell is this even a big deal? Well I personally find it a pet peeve to follow random authors because they do post niche content I happen to like but then some they start experimenting with other types of content I’m not interested in, it kinda clutters my feed. And I assume some also have this mindset but don’t want to press the unfollow button because it triggers an unpleasant notification.

Explore More Ways to Create Content.

I’m just hobby blogging and it happens to earn me some kickbacks. But it’s been a side interest to explore being a content creator, comic creation, podcasts, video editing and animation. I’m not saying I’ll do all next year but I’ll definitely be exploring more ways to produce content AS A HOBBY. There’s a difference between posting to get some funds for daily necessities versus just doing what you like and incidentally get tips for it.

Consuming a lot of content made me like the idea of creating content so even without the monetary rewards I’ll still be drafting and doing stupid shit on the sidelines because I like art.

Cheers to 2022 for everyone!

If you made it this far reading, thank you for your time.

It's the last line that got me smiling. Yes, there is a difference between the two as you said.
I also love to improve my content, but not only to please my audience but to please myself. More like doing what I've always loved doing but getting some bulk off it as well.
Cheers to a greater 2022 Adamada

It's a tough thing to balance. Most would succeed on one department if they focus on that. You can't please everybody and even if you're doing stuff for yourself, you'll eventually consider what the people that support you expect from you. This sort of thing bothers those that are really looking towards improving their content to reach a wider audience versus just blogging cause you do it for yourself and nothing else.

If one is just blogging for rewards, trying to please a wider audience is more sensible and there is always room for improvement to improve your chances of spreading your name out there. The downside is being too trapped in a form of content you're known for an that really diminishes your options because some fans may no longer be wanting to see random stuff you put out on their feed because they followed you for a specific content they happen to like. Tough world.

Thanks for stopping by and cheers to you for 2022! :>

I understand pretty well.
So what's more challenging and what's better?
Consistent random stuff? Biased topics? Doing what you love or pleasing your audience for larger rewards?
What speaks more for you?

Hard questions to tackle

So what's more challenging and what's better?

Challenging doesn't necessarily mean better as you could be challenge to put out content you're not used to and end up failing with an unpleasant experience, succeed or be dissatisfied. The better approach is to pursue what challenges you that have productive outcomes that lead you to do better while aligning according to your interest.

Consistent random stuff? Biased topics? Doing what you love or pleasing your audience for larger rewards?

I think it's a matter of what you want to prioritize while negotiating the secondary objective be it your own wants or what the audience wants from you. Think of freelance digital illustration, the client does not necessarily want what you want and it's all work you have to deliver. If you're a content creator that prioritizes your audience, then having a read on your audience and delivering is more of a priority and enjoyment comes afterwards, if you do enjoy it. There's nothing wrong about pursuing random or biased topics as long as you know the consequences. If you write about a niche topic then expect you would get into mainstream popularity anytime soon or ever. But you get to meet like minded patrons that may consume your work long term.

What speaks more for you?

Shitpost what I think and I'm invested on. It works for me than pretending I'm into this just to fish for attention. I have random topics at times because I like a lot of topics but you would generally find me fall back into a specific topic over the course of my blogging because some topics I share don't necessarily hold strong influence over others. I just pick some I want to invest more time in to share.

Lol. So that's what is termed shitposting from this space? I guess I've done more shitposting than I thought🤣🤣
I write on random stuff according to how my mood is for a particular day.

Pretty much that qualifies as shitposting to me. It's sort of between borderline nonsensical mood spam to attempting to create content and get serious at the content creator thing. A noncommittal habit where you can ascend to full serious content creation with clear goals or just stick to a comfort zone where you blog but have no clear direction about what you want to do with your blogs.

Like why do some content creators really push themselves to do better while some don't and are just happy with sticking to the same tune. Shitposting is a safe zone, it's not spam because some sense gets put into the post but it's not really committing to a habit when you switch gears depending on your mood. There has to be consistency and that's what most shitposters tend to lack unless shitposting is their branding then maybe that could work.

Interesting new year's post, @adamada. It's been a difficult 2021 for the whole world. Glad to hear that you are doing well despite that and even accomplished your goals for the year. I do a lot of shitposting and it helps clear up the senses for me. Personally, it's therapeutic. I get relief from stress just by thinking about what to upload and going through the process of creating content, whatever the cause of the anxiety may be. Maybe it's just the writer in me, or at least wannabe writer who just enjoys seeing letters and words on a paragraph; sometimes even a random photo or video upload on occasion will do just fine just to while away the time. Anyways, happy new year!

Powered by shitposting, most of the content is like that but it's not really that bad. It's what most people would put out on social media anyway. Not everyone here is a content creator, we just have a space where we can give it a shot and get some kickback. Of course some users here already got a content creation habits developed over the course of using the platform then expanding outside or vice versa. Bless you more this year.

That is also true. Most of the things you would consume on social media are bad. At least we have plagiarism checkers who see to it that we don't just copy-paste stuff. Originality counts for something. And, the more you write about stuff, the more you get better at it. Sooner or later...

That's hard, he only has one shot left on my book but I doubt he'll bite. Last attempt was a slapping the hand shake that would have saved him from the downvotes and probably wasn't a bright idea to use threats to double down on being a dick on his part.

Great goals for 2022! Hope you'd achieve them. You may cringe at the end of this year reading them but I'd guess you'd still be proud no matter what if you get to accomplish your goals 😁. Anyway, i have a question regarding consistency. I heard somewhere that creating an alt account here on hive is generally frowned upon. However, it has been so difficult for me to organize content in one blog since I have different interests. Is it okay to create an alt account for consistency 's sake? Thank you
