My Cleaning Activity For Wednesday, the 1st of May, 2024.

Good day, fellow hivers, welcome to my blog. I carried out my cleaning activity for the day within a government school, the school had a public holiday. I went round picking litter that had been disposed of indiscriminately in the school. I packed all the refuse and collected it into a black garbage bag. Then I disposed it in a refuse bin.

One thing that struck my heart, was the fact that the government had banned the use of styrofoam, but I noticed that some restaurants are still using them for selling food.
Styrofoam is a type of polystyrene foam that is both lightweight and strong. It's also used to make take-out coffee cups and packing materials.
Coffee from a foam cup takes only a few minutes, but it will last for generations in a landfill. Polystyrene never fully biodegrades because it is resistant to photolysis, the process in which light causes a material to break down. It lasts almost forever. Polystyrene foam is made from petroleum, a non-renewable resource.

Chronic exposure can have more serious consequences, including depression, headaches, exhaustion, weakness, liver problems, cancer, hearing loss, and impaired kidney function.

These pictures show how I carried out my cleaning activity.
