GATEAWAY DESTINATION, ROAD TRIPS!

All work and no play...
This is the very line that came to mind when I saw the beautiful prompts for the week. The word impossible comes to mind if I am to imagine a time free from anything that makes us busy. From January to December, year-round, there is no such thing as complete free-time at all times.
It could be demands from work, from school, from parenting or the countless things we do that takes up our time.

Honestly, everyday is so busy it can break our backs. The fun part is, we can take a break from the roller-coaster ride we hop on every day. I am not one to go out alone, in as much as I prefer to be by myself sometimes, I love group outings! Talk about going to the movies, scouting restaurants, going to the pool, beaches, and other fun places.

All the above are best relaxation destinations but the ones I prefer most are road trips! YES! Exactly as you read it. Unfortunately, I have done this once and we didn’t travel far either. It was a fun cut-short. Let me give an account of why I love road trips.

I love road trips as mostly the places visited are far away from the city. The city is busy and noisy around the clock. There is so much traffic in every direction. “Honk honk from cars” fills your ears and the next is followed by the mixture of voices from mates calling for passengers, hawkers calling for customers and pedestrians adding their own share. It gets crazy every day. We choose to go to the Eastern side. We left the city behind and enjoyed the peace and quiet and the beautiful scenery, especially the road at Aburi full of curves and turns, with mountainous hillsides and dense green forest. The breath of fresh air was simply relaxing.

What is the fun part of doing road trips if you going solo? Boring…
What makes this outing type exciting is the company you travel with. In my case we were 4, and thank God one friend had a car. I mean that is the best way to enjoy road trip if you have your own means of transportation (Laughs). There was no dull moment as we laughed, gossiped, teased and made jokes on the way. It got more alive when we sung along favorite songs together.

No specific destination is selected:
unlike regular outings where we chose a defined place say the cinema, restaurant, beach or pool, road trips are not specified. You just hit the road, not particularly going to sit somewhere. We went with our own food, soft drinks and water. When we wanted to eat, we looked for a safe spot to park, open all the doors and enjoyed our meals whiles listening so some nice tunes from the car’s speaker…
I hope to do this again one day.
