WHEN DISASTER STRIKES; HERE'S WHAT I WOULD GRAB

Hello hive, it's my pleasure to participate in @hive.ghana Contest for the first time. I love the topics but I am going for the topic about three things I would grab in a case of natural disaster.

No doubt, human-induced changes in the atmosphere sometimes cause change in the World's climate and so contribute to some of the natural disasters we have.

Natural disaster arise from natural processes of the earth and these cause disruptions and devastating effects to human life and properties.

Although natural disaster sometimes occur unexpectedly, people often make predictions that works. Therefore, one needs to do some findings by way of risk assessment to know those areas that are likely prone to volcanic eruptions, flooding etc.

Natural disaster such as earthquakes, hurricane, tornadoes , typhoon etc like I said are mostly unplanned and when they occur, they render many people homeless- they lose their belongings and some lose their lives.

But for some who anticipate it, especially if warning has been sounded about the impending danger, let's say, volcanic eruption, they prepare for it by moving to safer grounds.

While natural disaster is unplanned, when it happens, it is wrong thinking of how to replace things that are lost, rather the important thing to think about is survival. If I have my way to prepare for it, or even if it happens unexpectedly, these are the things I will reach out for.

MY KIDS

I do not pray for anything that will separate me from my girls. They mean the World to me. So in case of natural disaster, my kids are the first thing I will ensure are safe. I saw a picture or can I say a short video of a time earthquake happened somewhere. A child stretched out her hands and her Mother was trying to get her until the ground swallowed her up. That is a horrible experience that no Mother can wake up early from. So if I have my way, I would want my girls to get with me through thick and thin during and after a natural disaster. I don't even pray for one, I hear it is always very terrible and can separate families.

FIRST AID AND DRUGS

As much as I love to live during the disaster, I would want to have what can sustain my life with me. No one knows how long a natural disaster will last, so having first aid and drugs in place can help care for my family's health. Heath is wealth, my family's health should not be neglected. No one knows where to find succor during the disaster, so it is important that daily needs such as drugs are available and accessible in case of emergency.

EMERGENCY KIT

This is a ready-to- go bag to hold other items that are important. Some important documents can be slipped into the bag, cash and credit cards can be kept in it, non perishable foods, bottles of water, my Bible and a few clothes to change for the kids can be dumped inside.

When an area has been warned of an impending natural disaster, it is better to be safe than sorry. That is not a time to begin to think of material wealth, it is not a time to get busier with business, rather it is a time to act. Do not remain in isolation, flee and stay with families , friends or church members. Have a few of some important things you need, especially those that are not weighty. Have some phone contacts saved whether in your phone or written down. You might need them.

In some areas, after a natural disaster, there are relief teams that comes to the aid of those who has been displaced by it. It could be charity organizations or religious bodies who provide relief materials for natural disaster victims. While not hoping for so much, but part of the things lost can be regained with time. That why it is good to choose items that would help you survive in the interim.

This is my participation in hive-ghana contest and it's my first time writing in the community.💪

These are good things to grab. Natural disasters can cause a lot of damage and I agree that this is not the time to seek more money or turn deaf ears... it's time to act.

Always on time. Yes, it's a good time to act when one has the opportunity to act before the unexpected happens

These are great things to grab, your kids means so much and leaving them behind wouldn't be a good idea at all. I enjoyed reading through it.

Thanks so much. We even pray such things don't occur, even when we know they are inevitable

Natural disasters waits for no one. They occur when they like and where they like. When luckily, people are warned that a disaster is likely to occur, the situation is much better than when it occurs without warning.

When such a thing occurs, my kids are certainly the first people I will think about. I will ensure they are safe and sound before any other thing.
