Pineapple Growing In Southern And Northern Parts Of Nigeria (ENG-ESP) El cultivo de la piña en el sur y el norte de Nigeria

Pineapple is part of those fruit I love to eat but my challenge with it is that it takes a very long time to germinate not to talk of to ripe. I have planted a pineapple for over years and it's just now it's making effort to produce fruits. Before I planted the pineapple, it was a very good specie of pineapple that I planted but I have always wondered why it took years to produce only one pineapple fruit. I asked myself if it should be taking me more than years before I could see one pineapple fruit to be harvested from my farm. This is not a good return as a farmer because I expect to have more than just a fruit in a year.

If it's other fruit like mango, cashew, apple, coconut, and others that takes years to germinate, grow, and start bearing fruits, I wouldn't be complaining because after their years of growth and they manage to produce fruits, I know that the fruits will be much on like pineapple that would take a years to germinate, grow, and end producing a single fruit.

For pineapple to takes years to grow and produce a single fruits, it has shown that South Eastern parts of Nigeria is not a growing fruits state like those from the North. I don't believe South Eastern part of Nigeria has a fertile soil to be planting a pineapple because that doesn't sound good. Our soil is so strong that it hardly allow fruits like pineapple to survive that much.

It's not as if pineapple can't be planted in Southeast but it would just cost time, and years before it would manage to produce one fruit. When you go to the Northern parts of Nigeria, almost everyone is aware that their land is blessed to grow many fruits. Almost all the fruits that goes round the country comes from the Northern parts of the country. Even pineapple doesn't take so long to germinate and grow. North has their way to make a pineapple to produce more than one fruits before it can be removed from the soil.

All I have to say it that we from the Southern parts of Nigeria should consider the kind of fruits to plant because of the nature of our soil and weather. We don't have food environment for pineapple planting except we just wish to plant and endure to harvest the one fruits it would produce after years of growth.

Southern parts of Nigeria don't even have much land to make pineapple farming because pineapple requires large farmland, good soil, and good weather conditions. The North just have all it takes to plant, and grow all kinds of fruits that can be supplied to almost all parts of the 36 state including the FCT of the country.

I believe that the more reason why pineapple is very difficult to grow in the Southern parts of the country is because oil soil attracts insects, and ants that usually enters the pineapple stems and flowers and then feed on them thereby weakening the growth of the pineapple. Such situations can even contribute on the low growth of Pineapple in the Southern parts of the country.

La piña es una de esas frutas que me encanta comer, pero mi problema con ella es que tarda mucho tiempo en germinar, por no hablar de madurar. He plantado una piña durante más de años y es ahora cuando se esfuerza por producir frutos. Antes de plantar la piña, planté una especie muy buena, pero siempre me he preguntado por qué tardó años en producir un solo fruto. Me pregunté si debería tardar más de años en cosechar una piña en mi granja. Esto no es un buen rendimiento como agricultor, porque espero tener algo más que una fruta en un año.

Si se tratara de otras frutas como el mango, el anacardo, la manzana, el coco y otras que tardan años en germinar, crecer y empezar a dar frutos, no me quejaría porque después de sus años de crecimiento y de que consigan producir frutos, sé que los frutos serán mucho mayores que la piña, que tardaría años en germinar, crecer y acabar produciendo un solo fruto.

El hecho de que la piña tarde años en crecer y producir una sola fruta ha demostrado que el sudeste de Nigeria no es un estado en el que crezcan frutas como en el norte. No creo que el sureste de Nigeria tenga un suelo fértil para plantar piñas, porque no suena bien. Nuestro suelo es tan fuerte que difícilmente permite que frutas como la piña sobrevivan tanto.

Todo lo que tengo que decir es que los habitantes del sur de Nigeria deberíamos tener en cuenta el tipo de frutas que plantamos debido a la naturaleza de nuestro suelo y al clima.
