Let's Play "Quartet" Demo - First Impression Playthrough - First 20 Minutes

Quartet is a Turn-based RPG to be released sometime in 2024. I played the Demo and recorded part of my playthough. Below is my First Impression review.

Game Link!

The Demo throws you in the middle of the game. It's set after the eight characters assemble, while you can play their stories in any order in the main game. As I played through, I could only piece together parts of the story. Here's what the Steam Page says:

A series of unlikely train robberies. A mysterious deck of cards. A fleet of deadly airships. An accidental mage. Choose from four stories, in any order, and discover how they intertwine in this turn-based RPG.

The combat plays like a traditional JRPG in which a character gets to choose their action when their turn arrives and you can see the turn order in the right side of the screen. Skills consume AP which is determined by a percentage that recovers 10% when each character's turn's end.

I enjoyed the battle system a lot. Discovering my characters abilities was fun, and my favorite skills were Alexandra's Oracle Deck and Ben's Zap Zap.

The puzzle was interesting but on the easy side. As you can watch me getting the solution to it easily. It's good enough for the Demo, but I wonder if the main game will have harder puzzles. I don't mind either way, though.

I'm glad I tried this demo, and if the main game Quartet is around the price-point and lentgh I expect, I'm considering adding it to my backlog. For now, though, my backlog is heavy enough.

What do you think?
