You first, pan later.

She was making pastry for dessert, it was the evening after the Thanksgiving that held a week long.
Everyone is exhausted but loving good food and pastries, Tracy went into the kitchen to make up desserts as dinner was almost ready.

She had placed the pan with cooking oil on the gas cooker and went to knead what was left of the dough.
Shaping one of them into a ball, she extended to place into the hot oil but the pan wasn't well placed and made to fall.
Two thoughts ran through her mind, save the pan or run backwards.

She chose the latter.

I can imagine the degree of skin burn she'd have had should she have tried to save the pan with the hot oil. Who tries to save that?
The oil is replaceable, may cost a few bucks, but nursing a burns injury plus plastic surgery would definitely cost more.

Sometimes, some things are better let go. Not everything is worth saving.
Some relationships are like that, while trying to save it desperately, it mars, hurts and leave deep scars. They can break you beyond self recognition.
Know when to save yourself. Know when to let go. Time heals and you'd be fine.
