Common Hedge Blue: They're Not Mad at Each Other

"What are they doing? Are they angry with each other?" An intriguing question came out of my youngest kid's mouth when he saw these two butterflies. I chuckled at that but didn't rush to answer, except to signal him not to make a fuss.

What I did was shoot them from the best angles with my phone camera before their business was done and they flew away.

After I was finished capturing some clicks, it turned out that their business was not finished yet. Yes, they are still there, in a copulated position.

Back to my little kid's question: I think the question arose because he saw the butterflies back to back, so he thought they were angry.

"They are not creatures that like to get angry, my dear. They always live peacefully in the habitat they live in. What are they doing? They are mating. Yes, that's how they mate, back to back, but they love each other."

My answer made him blush. "Oh, it turns out to be an adult business!" He said again, which made me laugh. LOL!
