FungiFriday: Gorgeous White Porecap

So happy are those who don't waste the opportunity to hunt for mushrooms when the rainy season arrives. I remember a few months ago, I spent almost every day hunting mushrooms in the woods. So I didn't miss the #FungiFriday challenge, sharing stories about my experiences finding interesting, strange, and beautiful mushrooms, of course.

In the first week of November 2023, we went on a mushroom trip in the forest located west of my town. At that time, the weather was a bit cloudy, and we could feel the smell of dampness in the wooded environment we were passing through.

The white porecap fungus (Favolaschia sp.) was one of the many types we encountered there at that time. Some of them grow in clusters, and some grow alone.

The characteristics of the fungus (look at the shape of the pores) are very similar to those of Mycena manipularis. It's just that this one has a shorter stem and a wider hat.

The pores showed quite prominent veins, like dense tree branches.

Until now, extreme hot weather (dry season) has been ongoing. Rain is what everyone looks forward to the most. I'm hoping to hunt for more mushrooms when that moment comes.
