FungiFriday: Some "Crazy" Shrooms That Appear at an Odd Time
Going mushroom hunting in the dry summer is just crazy. You have to be prepared to be disappointed if you don't find anything there and go home empty-handed. This is what we did a few days ago when we went mushroom hunting in the hinterland of North Aceh, to be precise near the tourist destination of Blang Kulam Waterfall. At that time, we were prepared to be disappointed if we didn't find any mushrooms, considering that it had not rained for so long.
But it seemed nature was being kind to us; it led us to a dim spot where we found a bunch of mealy bonnets (Mycena cinerella) growing on rotten taro plant stems. It's like finding water in the desert; you can imagine how excited you are when you find that.
At first glance, the mushroom's physique is somewhat similar to that of a fairy inkcap, and the fruiting body is just as fragile. It's just that according to the common name, this mushroom's cap is brownish and the surface is powdery.
Mushroom gills—this is what characterizes most of the gills in the genus Mycena—I think they're translucent too.
This one seems to be the odd one out; it just grew up on its own.
What about the others? There aren't any...that's all we found. I think it's some crazy shrooms that appear at an odd time—not in the rainy season.
