Either is shrinking or turning into steel.

Balls of steel that's what's needed when driving here in the Philippines. Even the passengers have them since they all insist on the uncomfortableness of wearing seatbelts while careening down a wet road.

I think it's best I keep my eyes closed through the rollercoaster ride of emotions. This is something I'm going to have to face when I'm traveling here in the coming months.

20230104_093546.jpg

The conversations flowing between the two drivers sharing notes as the vehicle weaves and sometimes slides around corners and turns. Overtaking trucks while oncoming ones head or way.

20230104_093554.jpg

One slip on the steely grip I don't even want to imagine. There must be a tonne of brakes wearing out frequently for each and every vehicle here since the sudden jolts of slowing down forces you forward more often than not. Yes I'll get there faster but I'm not heading to a final destination.

Again balls of steel grow some I repeat to myself as I feel the abruptness of the ride. The vision on the sides just a blur for the most part of this hair raising ride. In glad I'm writing this or my breath might catch and my resolve may falter, not much but just enough to get me all riled up.

20230104_093638.jpg

I can't see myself fighting a vehicle with the asphalt of the road. That kind of fight leads to nothing but shattered glass at the least to shattered emotions for whoever walks away.

20230104_093648.jpg

The trees are nothing but green with the occasional clarity when the vehicle is forced to stop from single lane traffic junctions. Breathing trust momentary such of relief to once again praying for myself to not look in front. I think my nails are shrinking rather than turning into steel.

20230104_093554.jpg

Momentary laughter breaks my little fearing done. The turmoil of emotions tightly controlled by breathing calmly and slowly just so my hands don't shake as I go down the page...

20230104_093647.jpg

I'm not looking now till the slow grinding traffic crawl of the city. All that's needed is the T junction telling me I've arrived into slow manageable emotional rollercoaster of the grid lock. But that's another kind of post deserving its own entry. Maybe I'll write about it but I know capturing something like that would tax me even more than this freakishly short but long ride.

Till next time.

Ciao.

Were you riding a V-hire?
They usually run faster than buses.
Based on my experience vehicles from the South travels faster than here in the North. I remember my head bumped into the ceiling of the bus
when I went to Carcar City. Huhu
