Pero lo que más ha impresionado y puesto en el foco al deporte cubano ha sido la nueva triada de beisbolistas antillanos quienes se han vuelto protagonistas en este cierre de temporada y dos de ellos debutando en el Big Show durante este mes de septiembre gracias a la expansión de los rosters
Victor Mesa Jr
El novel jardinero de 25 años ha acaparado toda la atención debido a su gran irrupción en la mejor organización de la Liga Americana: Los Tampa Bay Rays. El hijo más chiquito del famoso pelotero cubano Victor Mesa recientemente fue condecorado como el mejor jugador de la semana del nuevo circuito gracias a unos números de ensueño: 555 de average, 636 de OPS (porcentaje de envasado), 1278 de slugging además de contribuir a la clasificación de su equipo a la postemporada desde el 2023. El jardinero cubano tuvo una aportación a la causa con seis extrabases, de ellos tres vuelacercas en días consecutivos, además de comandar a los guardabosques del conjunto en carreras salvadas a la defensa con nueve, muestra del gran momento que vive el más chiquito de los Mesa
Lázaro Montes
El habanero al fin tuvo su recompensa este mes de septiembre después de haber descocido la pelota en Ligas Menores. En su paso por allí despacho 38 cuadrangulares en su paso por Doble A y Triple A antes de debutar con los Marineros de Seattle nada más y nada menos que en el Fenway Park de Boston dónde debutó por la puerta grande con soberano palo por todo el jardín central a más de 430 pies. A sus 21 añitos ya es temido por su potencia física y la velocidad de conexión de sus batazos, combinación que lo ha llevado a establecerse como regular en la alineación de un conjunto que aspira a luchar por la postemporada
Yohandy Morales
El hijo del estelar Andy Morales, famoso por su aportación ofensiva ante los Orioles de Baltimore en el año 1999 ha comenzado con gran destaque en su equipo: los Nacionales de Washington. El cubano-americano le quedaban chiquitos los niveles Doble A y Triple A y en este salto al Big Show está demostrando que lo de las ligas menores no es obra de la casualidad. El jugador de cuadro de 24 años ha caído de pie en la organización y es parte de una renovación ofensiva de la misma, compartiendo desde ya la responsabilidad de ser el cuarto madero ante estrellas de la talla de James Wood y CJ Abrams bateando para 296 de average con dos vuelacercas, incluído uno en su debut y cuatro hombres impulsados para el plato de esta ganando el puesto para el roster del próximo año en la Gran Carpa
