Aldeota de Izei / Izei Village - Vila Real District | Portugal

Hello everybody :)

I share another one of those visits to another one of those magical places in this small country planted by the sea.
This time in a location located further inland and further north, almost on the border with neighboring Spain.
I remember that when i headed in this direction, it was usually to take refuge in the mountains of my Gerês, that place that in previous shares i have already identified as being my refuge of choice, and it´s still, i confess that :)
But in this case the journey continued without stopping until reaching the small village of Izei, located on the majestic slopes of a mountain range.
Once there, we are immediately presented with a spectacular landscape, with a view of a vast valley that is home to other picturesque villages, including Samaiões and Vilar de Nantes.

It was in that small rustic house that we found what turned out to be a privileged refuge.
Initially we just hoped to find a place to spend the night in the middle of the mountains, surrounded by silence and tranquility, and that's exactly what happened, but with this additional gift, you'll easily understand what i'm talking about from the photos i'll share throughout this article :)
The host left us with a brief introduction to the history of that small house, which was inherited from his grandparents, ending up offering us a book of poems written by his mother herself and where the house plays a prominent role, just like the entire land :)
Note: In one of the previous macro photography sessions, the subjects used are part of the walls of this house :)

The setting, adorned with the rustic architecture of granite houses, many of them witnesses of time in a state of ruins, reflects the history of the region. Few inhabitants remain, dedicating themselves to crafts and agriculture, essential traits that have endured over the years.

Waking up before sunrise, i was able to capture the unique beauty of the valley shrouded in a blanket of morning fog. The photographic records, taken in the morning, afternoon and late afternoon, revealed impressive nuances of the landscape that evolves throughout the day.
The experience of exploring these villages goes beyond the superficial view. The peace you feel in this place is indescribable, a tranquility that soothes the soul. Each corner tells stories of a past that blends harmoniously with the serenity of the present.

The use of a drone has broadened the perspective, offering aerial views that highlight the true extent of natural beauty.
This retreat, far from the urban hustle and bustle, fulfilled its purpose, providing moments of rest and reflection, immersed in the authenticity and simplicity of these small villages that, even in ruins, retain the essence of country life.

That´s all for today, Hope you like it :)

Thank you again for watching :)

Always remember:

Value your time, because every fraction counts, and the price of anything is the amount of life you trade for it.
May the memories of the travels be eternalized in the photographs, and may the photographs transport us back to the travels ;)
