«Allmen. Art Hunters»: It Is Not Forbidden To live Beatifully (EN/UA)

Last weekend I watched the little-known mini-series “Alman. Art hunters ”. The series consists of four films, and is based on a series of books by the Swiss writer Martin Suter. I would like to recommend it to you.

The protagonist of the series is Johann Friedrich von Almen - is a gentleman, a thief and a detective in one person. Being a subtle connoisseur of art, he once succumbed to temptation and stole an expensive cup, but managed to safely correct the situation. Then he decided to do it professionally, as he put it - "to combine knowledge and passion with economic interest." Together with his faithful and intelligent butler Carlos, Alman begins to search for the missing expensive art objects, each of which has its own dangerous secret.

Almen is truly an outstanding person. His motto is the words: "I think today is a wonderful day to try your luck at playing with fate."

A person who knows how to enjoy life. Educated, elegant and loves beautiful things. Costumes from the best tailors, expensive cars, gourmet restaurants, boat trips and casino nights. Charm, sophisticated manners and success with beautiful women.

At the same time, Alman is constantly in need of money, since he treats them very easily. “Money has never really mattered to me. It is a fickle substance that passes from hand to hand." Therefore, from time to time he has problems with creditors, but does not want to change his usual bohemian lifestyle. It is fair to say that he cannot be called selfish, as he generously cares for those people who are near him.

Alman cannot live without adventures. But he always knows how to get out of a difficult situation, even if not always with safe and legal methods. “Risk is the highlight of the uniformity of existence,” he says.

The film is imbued with a special atmosphere of richness and chic. All events take place in Zurich or in expensive establishments in other cities. Therefore, you get real aesthetic pleasure from the views of chic villas, luxurious interiors of hotels and restaurants.

The dialogues and monologues of the protagonist bring special intellectual pleasure. In the course of his adventures, the extremely educated and well-read von Almen constantly shares rare quotes and historical data with his interlocutors. Sometimes I even stopped watching a movie to reflect on what was said.

The first three films "Almen and the mystery of the dragonfly", "Almen and the mystery of the pink diamond", "Almen and the mystery of Dahlia" were filmed in 2015-2018 in Switzerland, the Czech Republic and Germany. The fourth episode "Almen and the Secret of Eroticism" was filmed in the Czech Republic and was released in March 2021, and is still inaccessible for viewing. I haven't found it yet.

The series is sometimes somewhat reminiscent of films about theft of art objects, such as "The Thomas Crown Affair" or "Entrapment", but although the genre of the film is not new, the plot is quite high-quality and interesting.

Decent acting. Light ironic humor. Authentically selected music.

In general, the show is good, watch and enjoy.

«Альмен. Мисливці за мистецтвом»: красиво жити не заборониш

На минулих вихідних днях я подивився маловідомий європейський міні-серіал «Альмен. Охотники за мистецтвом». Серіал складається з чотирьох фільмів, і заснований на серії книг швейцарського письменника Мартина Сутера. Хочу порекомендувати його вам.

Головний герой серіалу, Йоханн Фрідріх фон Альмен - джентльмен, злодій і детектив в одній особі. Будучи тонким цінителем мистецтва, він одного разу піддався спокусі і вкрав дорогу чашу, але зумів благополучно виправити ситуацію. Тоді він вирішив зайнятися цим професійно, як він висловився - «об'єднати знання і пристрасть з економічним інтересом». Разом зі своїм вірним і розумним дворецьким Карлосом, Альмен починає вести пошуки зниклих дорогих предметів мистецтва, за кожним з яких - своя небезпечна таємниця.

Альмен воістину непересічна особистість. Його девізом являються слова:«Мені здається, сьогодні чудовий день, щоб спробувати щастя в грі з долею».

Людина, яка знає, як насолоджуватися життям. Стильний, елегантний, любить та цінує красиві речі. Костюми від кращих кравців, дорогі машини, вишукані ресторани, морські прогулянки і ночі в казино. Шарм, витончені манери і успіх у красивих жінок.

При цьому Альмен постійно відчуває потребу в грошах, так як відноситься до них дуже легко. «Гроші ніколи не мали для мене великого значення. Це непостійна субстанція, яка переходить з рук в руки». Тому періодично він має проблеми зі кредиторами, але не бажає змінювати свого звичного богемному способу життя. Справедливості заради відзначимо, що його не можна назвати егоїстом, так як він щедро дбає і про тих людей, які поруч з ним.

Альмен не може жити без авантюрних пригод. Але завжди знає як вийти з важкої ситуації, нехай навіть і не завжди безпечними і законними методами. «Ризик - це родзинка однаковості існування» - каже він.

Фільм просякнутий особливою атмосферою багатства і шику. Всі події відбуваються в Цюріху або в дорогих закладах інших міст. Тому отримуєш справжнє естетичне задоволення від видів шикарних вілл, розкішних інтер'єрів готелів і ресторанів.

Особливу інтелектуальне задоволення доставляють діалоги і монологи головного героя. По ходу своїх пригод, надзвичайно освічений і начитаний фон Альмен постійно ділиться зі своїми співрозмовниками рідкісними цитатами і історичними даними. Іноді я навіть зупиняв перегляд фільму, щоб задуматися над сказаним.

Перші три фільми «Альмен і загадка стрекози», «Альмен і загадка рожевого діаманта», «Альмен і загадка Далії» знімалися в 2015-2018 роках в Швейцарії, Чехії та Німеччини. Четверта серія «Альмен і секрет еротизму» знімалася в Чехії і вийшла в березні 2021 році, і ще малодоступна для перегляду. Я її поки не знайшов.

Серіал іноді чимось нагадує інші фільми про викрадення предметів мистецтв, такі, як «Афера Томаса Крауна» або «Пастка» (Entrapment), але хоч жанр фільму і не новий, сюжет досить якісний і цікавий.

Гідна гра акторів. Легкий іронічний гумор. Автентично підібрана музика.

Загалом, серіал хороший, дивіться і насолоджуйтеся.
