Excursion to the Senaiga Lake, Lamon - Belluno - Discovering Italy with alequandro!

A couple of weeks ago I decided to go on an excursion with my brother and I decided to take him to Lamon, at the Senaiga lake in the province of Belluno.

It was August 14th so I chose this place because it is not very popular and it would have avoided any queues due to the August holidays.

Un paio di settimane fa ho deciso di fare un'escursione con mio fratello e ho deciso di portarlo a Lamon, al lago del Senaiga in provincia di Belluno.

Era il 14 agosto quindi ho scelto questo posto perchè è poco frequentato e ci avrebbe evitato eventuali code dovute alle ferie di Ferragosto.

We parked the car along a cobbled street which is located right above an old tavern called Ponte Serra.

Abbiamo parcheggiato l'auto lungo una strada di sassi che si trova proprio sopra un'antica osteria che si chiama Ponte Serra.

I activated the Tabacco app which is perfect for always having an eye on the map and we walked towards the dam.

Ho attivato l'app Tabacco che è perfetta per avere sempre sott'occhio la cartina e ci siamo incamminati verso la diga.

The road is very smooth and wide, it is used by the dig control officers.

La strada è molto agevole e larga, viene utilizzata dagli addetti al controllo della dig.

After ten minutes you arrive at the dam which offers a beautiful view of Lake Senaiga. The altitude is about 400 meters above sea level.

Dopo dieci minuti si arriva alla diga che offre una bella vista sul lago Senaiga. L'altitudine è di circa 400 metri sul livello del mare.

Immediately after the dam there are very beautiful passages carved into the mountain.

Subito dopo la diga ci sono dei passaggi molto belli scavati nella montagna.

The next section develops in a beautiful beech forest.
The path is uphill with fairly sloping sections.

Il tratto successivo si sviluppa in un bel bosco di faggi.
Il sentiero è in salita con tratti abbastanza pendenti.

After the most tiring stretch, the view of the landscape is satisfying and rewards the effort.

Superato il tratto più faticoso la vista sul paesaggio è appagante e ricompensa la fatica.

Subsequently the slope is not too much with stretches on the flat, you walk with serenity contemplating the landscape and nature.

Successivamente la pendenza non è troppa con tratti su piano, si cammina con serenità contemplando il paesaggio e la natura.

We were 700 meters in altitude and as you can see from the contour lines on the map, the next route would have been quite easy.

Eravamo a 700 metri di dislivello e come potete vedere dalle curve di livello della mappa, il percorso successivo sarebbe stato abbastanza facile.

Somewhere there were ancient houses of wood and stone, very isolated, perhaps too much for my taste.

In qualche punto c'erano delle antiche case di legno e pietra, molto isolate, forse troppo per i miei gusti.

To make a ring excursion we continued along a path that would have made us descend leaving behind the difference in height we had gained in the first part of the excursion.

Per fare un'escursione ad anello abbiamo proseguito lungo un sentiero che ci avrebbe fatto scendere lasciando alle spalle il dislivello che avevamo guadagnato nella prima parte dell'escursione.

The downhill section is all in the shade and runs fairly quickly.

At one point you arrive at the walkway over the lake which offers a beautiful view of the lake and the rocky walls on the sides.

Il tratto in discesa è tutto all'ombra e si percorre abbastanza velocemente.

Ad un certo punto si arriva alla passerella sul lago che offre una bella vista sul lago e le pareti rocciose ai lati.

After the footbridge, go up the path towards the village of Martoriei.

To get back to the car we had to take a slightly downhill stretch of paved road.

Superata la passerella si risale il sentiero verso il borgo di Martoriei.

Per tornare all'auto abbiamo dovuto percorrere un tratto di strada asfaltata in leggera discesa.

The hike was about 13 kilometers and was the perfect idea to stay in nature and avoid the more touristy areas that are very crowded in August.

L'escursione è stata di circa 13 chilometri ed è stata l'idea perfetta per stare nella natura ed evitare le zone più turistiche che nel mese di agosto sono molto affollate.
