Visit to the Temple of San Martino - Farra di Soligo - Province of Treviso

In Col San Martino, in the municipality of Farra di Soligo, province of Treviso, there is a twentieth-century temple that I did not know and that I saw by chance while driving.

It is a temple dedicated to San Martino, built in 1927 on the remains of an oratory destroyed in the First World War.

Si tratta di un tempio dedicato a San Martino, realizzato nel 1927 sui resti un oratorio distrutto nella prima guerra mondiale.

It can also be reached by car and once you reach the temple, there is parking for only two cars.

Si può raggiungere anche in auto e una volta raggiunto il tempio, c'è parcheggio solo per due auto.

The view extends to the south over the plain and the hills to the north. With the sunset it must be a beautiful sight.

A few cypresses mitigate the octagonal structure.
A staircase that acts as a podium further slims the temple which is spread over three levels.

Una scalinata che fa da podio, slancia ulteriormente il tempio che si sviluppa su tre livelli.

To the south there is a colonnade with the entrance facing the plain.

Unfortunately, the interior was not open to visitors, but I was not sorry, as, being a recent building, it does not have interesting elements to see.

L'interno purtroppo non era visitabile, ma non ero dispiaciuto, in quanto, essendo un edificio recente, non presenta elementi interessanti da vedere.

Inside the Temple there is a small urn containing various names of people extracted from those couples who ask Saint Martin for the grace of having children and then undertake, upon receipt, to impose the extracted name on the newborn. The custom has been documented since May 1743. Even today many couples go to the teample for this reason.

All’interno del Tempio c'è una piccola urna contenente vari nomi di persone estratti da quelle coppie che chiedono a San Martino la grazia di avere figli impegnandosi poi, a grazia ricevuta, di imporre al neonato il nome estratto. L’usanza é documentata fin dal maggio 1743. Tutt'oggi molte coppie, si recano al tempio per questo motivo.
