Hidden pain

Hoy me costo un poco dibujar, ya que estos últimos días he tenido un cansancio extremo, de hecho, me quede dormida varias veces mientras pintaba esto y quizás pensaran que lo hice durante la noche, que madrugue haciendo este retrato, pero no, fue durante el día después de estar aparentemente “activa” de repente me senté a dibujar y los ojos comenzaron a arder y a voltearse solos jaja. Decidí acostarme un rato y descansar para luego continuar con este dibujo, este cansancio viene de la mano de una depresión bastante fuerte que me esta dando, no se porque, pero es uno de esos días donde nada tiene sentido y que simplemente tienes pensamientos horribles de toda tu vida y este dibujo creo que me representa bien ahora mismo ya que intente reflejar en los ojos un poco de esa nostalgia que siento. Espero que les guste.

Today it was a bit difficult for me to draw, as I have been extremely tired these last few days. In fact, I fell asleep several times while painting this, and you might think that I did it during the night, that I got up early to do this portrait, but no, it was during the day after being apparently “active.” Suddenly, I sat down to draw, and my eyes began to burn and roll on their own, haha. I decided to lie down for a while and rest, and then continue with this drawing. This fatigue comes hand in hand with a pretty strong depression that I'm experiencing. I don't know why, but it's one of those days where nothing makes sense and you just have horrible thoughts about your whole life. I think this drawing represents me well right now, as I tried to reflect a little of that nostalgia I feel in the eyes. I hope you like it.

Proceso/Process

Comencé mi boceto y luego a aplicar color a la piel, esta vez utilizando colores cálidos entre ellos: rosas, rojos, naranjas, algunos colores crema y sombras con marrones cálidos pero suaves en su mayoría. En una nueva capa agregue mas colores para darle mejor forma a toda la estructura del rostro, luego tome un pincel que hace mucho tiempo no usaba y es un pincel con textura de Oleo, me sirvió bastante para mezclar todo y que mantuviera textura como si fuese una pintura real.

I began my sketch and then applied color to the skin, this time using warm colors including pinks, reds, oranges, some cream colors, and shadows with warm but mostly soft browns. On a new layer, I added more colors to better shape the entire structure of the face. Then I took a brush that I hadn't used in a long time, an oil-textured brush, which was very useful for blending everything and maintaining the texture as if it were a real painting.

Despues pinte el cabello tambien usando este pincel de oleo y para mechones mas pequeños use un pincel duro y con un tamaño mínimo, agregue una ligera iluminación en el cabello con un azul grisáceo en una opacidad bastante baja ya que no hacia falta demasiado volumen ni detalles. Como siempre, me gusta darle mas profundidad a los ojos y nariz y por eso apliqué un poco de color rojizo en esas zonas, tambien quise agregar algunos puntos de luz que simulen como rayos de sol traspasando a través de una tela o algo asi, no se como explicarlo. Finalice agregando luz a los ojos, labios y nariz y tambien haciendo un leve ajuste de color.

Then I painted the hair using this oil brush as well, and for smaller strands I used a hard brush with a minimum size. I added a slight highlight to the hair with a grayish blue at a fairly low opacity, as too much volume or detail was not necessary. As always, I like to give more depth to the eyes and nose, so I applied a little reddish color to those areas. I also wanted to add some points of light that simulate sunbeams shining through fabric or something like that; I don't know how to explain it. I finished by adding light to the eyes, lips, and nose and also making a slight color adjustment.
