Hola amigos, hoy no escribo con muchos ánimos pero a pesar de todo quiero verle el lado divertido a las desgracias que me pasan, no es algo tan grave, pero pensé que seria mas fácil lidiar con ello, ya se acerca la época del año que mas me gusta, la navidad y una de las actividades que mas disfruto es colocar el árbol de navidad, en mi país solemos colocarlo mucho antes de navidad y en mi caso espero hasta el dia 16 de noviembre para poner nuestro arbolito, pero este año hay una diferencia y es que es nuestra primera navidad con mascota en casa, Tommy ya lleva unos meses con nosotros y ha sido increíble tener su compañía, aunque por otro lado hemos vivido algunos momentos de angustia en diferentes ocasiones, como por ejemplo su obsesión por subirse a las ventanas y nosotros viviendo en un piso 14, por suerte no le ha pasado nada, ha sabido calcular su salto, pero desde que lo vi por primera vez haciendo eso, he tenido muchísimo cuidado, literalmente vivo vigilándolo casi todo el día y le digo que NO puede hacer eso, el es muy inteligente y entiende cuando se le regaña y bueno, ahora también tenemos que lidiar con el problema de convivir con un gato intentando destruir el árbol de navidad, Tommy se ha bautizado desde ahora como Tommy grinch.

Hello friends, today I am not writing with much encouragement but in spite of everything I want to see the funny side to the misfortunes that happen to me, it is not something so serious, but I thought it would be easier to deal with it, the time of the year that I like the most is coming, Christmas and one of the activities that I enjoy the most is to put up the Christmas tree, in my country we usually put it up long before Christmas and in my case I wait until November 16th to put up our tree, but this year there is a difference and it is our first Christmas with a pet at home, Tommy has been with us for a few months now and it has been amazing to have his company, although on the other hand we have lived some moments of anguish in different occasions, for example his obsession to climb on the windows and us living in a 14th floor, luckily nothing has happened to him, he has known how to calculate his jump, but since I saw him for the first time doing that, I have been very careful, I literally live watching him almost all day and I tell him he can NOT do that, he is very smart and understands when he is scolded and well, now we also have to deal with the problem of living with a cat trying to destroy the Christmas tree, Tommy has been baptized from now as Tommy The grinch.

El primer día en el que coloque el árbol, Tommy estaba tranquilo, curioso pero bastante tranquilo, incluso llego a dormirse al lado sin ningún problema, yo estaba muy contenta porque había quedado muy bonito a pesar de ser un árbol viejo el cual ya casi se esta quedando pelón JAJAJA, pero hice lo mejor que pude para hacerlo ver bonito, ese día termine tan cansada y en la noche vi los primeros síntomas de esquizofrenia de mi gato, empezó a montarse y a tumbar las bolas de navidad, lo regañe varias veces y se iba pero al rato volvía a regresar y hacer exactamente lo mismo. Asi poco a poco fue poniendo mi árbol cada vez mas feo.

The first day I put up the tree, Tommy was quiet, curious but quite calm, he even fell asleep next to it without any problem, I was very happy because it was very nice despite being an old tree which is almost getting bald HAHAHA, but I did the best I could to make it look nice, that day I finished so tired and at night I saw the first symptoms of schizophrenia in my cat, he started to ride and knock down the Christmas balls, I scolded him several times and he left but after a while he came back and did exactly the same thing.
So little by little he was making my tree uglier and uglier.

Y mi árbol ya no se veía simétrico, parecía estar mas de un lado que otro, casualmente siempre era el lado donde Tommy se posaba mmm…

Perdí la cuenta de cuantas veces recogí bolas del suelo además de volver a arreglar las luces y los adornos, asi todos estos días, incluso no he dormido bien, porque me he despertado con el sonido de las bolas de navidad cayendo y Tommy arrastrándolas por todas partes, asi que hoy tome una decisión.

I lost count of how many times I picked up balls from the floor in addition to re-arranging the lights and decorations, so all these days, I haven't even slept well, because I woke up to the sound of Christmas balls falling and Tommy dragging them all over the place, so today I made a decision.

Mi decisión viene en conjunto con esta pregunta, y les comento que al menos en mi experiencia NO HAY nada que calme a los gatos para que no tumben el arbolito de navidad jajaja, incluso intente educarme viendo algunos videos y comentarios en internet y nada de eso me funciono, Tommy cada vez está más obsesionado con el árbol, pero él es inteligente y solo aprovecha un descuido de nosotros para montarse, cuando estamos cerca de él se porta muy inocente, de verdad que este tema ha sido muy estresante y estoy exhausta de tanto arreglar el arbolito, asi que hoy decidí cambiar todo, tome mi árbol y lo empecé a desarmar, quede impactada cuando vi todo el daño que tenia mi pobre árbol, no lo había detallado de cerca y cuando lo desarme vi todo el desastre, le arranco un montón de hojas asi como también rompió algunas bolas, las luces estaban por la parte de atrás todas caídas y enredadas, no quiero ni imaginarme todo lo que hizo este gatito con el árbol mientras nosotros dormíamos.

My decision comes together with this question, and I tell you that at least in my experience there is nothing that calms the cats so they do not knock down the Christmas tree hahaha, I even tried to educate myself by watching some videos and comments on the internet and none of that worked, Tommy is increasingly obsessed with the tree, but he is smart and only takes advantage of a carelessness of us to mount, when we are near him he behaves very innocent, I am really stressed out and I am exhausted from fixing the tree, so today I decided to change everything, I took my tree and started to take it apart, I was shocked when I saw all the damage that my poor tree had, I had not detailed it closely and when I took it apart I saw all the mess, he bites a lot of leaves and also broke some balls, the lights were in the back all fallen and tangled, I do not even want to imagine all that this kitten did with the tree while we were sleeping.

Pero mi decisión de desarmar el árbol no quiere decir que no tendré navidad en mi hogar, al contrario, quise volverlo a hacer desde cero, dejando las luces mas hacia el centro del árbol y prácticamente amarrándolas muy bien entre ramas para que sea difícil de mover, además de colocar los adornos de una manera más difícil de arrancar, pero, por supuesto que esto no me garantiza que Tommy haga de las suyas mientras dormimos, asi que mientras sea navidad, tomare mi árbol todas las noches, lo desconectare y lo guardare en un cuarto que tenemos desocupado, cerrare la puerta hasta el día siguiente y en la mañana al despertar lo volveré a colocar y enchufar. ¿Suena absurdo? SÍ ¿Mala idea? No creo

Es una solución que es bastante molesta pero prefiero eso a tener que armarlo todos los días o a levantarme de la cama con un infarto escuchando a Tommy jugar con los adornos, por suerte mi árbol es pequeño, asi que no pesa mucho, solo tengo que tratar de cargarlo cuidadosamente para que no se me resbale.

Sound absurd? YES
Bad idea? I don't think so.

It's a solution that is quite annoying but I prefer that to having to put it together every day or getting out of bed with a heart attack listening to Tommy playing with the ornaments, luckily my tree is small so it doesn't weigh much, I just have to try to carry it carefully so it doesn't slip.

Lo bueno de todo esto es que arme mi arbolito nuevamente y siento que quedo mas bonito que el primero, intente arreglarle las ramas que Tommy dobló lo más que pude. Por supuesto que hay opciones menos estresantes que la que tome yo, por ejemplo, poner un árbol que vaya pegado a la pared, hacer arboles con diferentes materiales y asi, pero realmente me gusta mucho mi arbolito de navidad a la antigua, asi que todos los días tendré que cumplir con este nuevo reto para mantener un poco mi salud mental y la buena relación con Tommy que ya se estaba volviendo un poco áspera por el arbolito jajajaja, pero igual lo amo y entiendo que no puede evitar tocar tantas cosas brillantes y colgantes, en fin, deséenme suerte.

The good thing about all this is that I put my tree back together and I feel that it is nicer than the first one, I tried to fix the branches that Tommy bent as much as I could.
Of course there are less stressful options than the one I took, for example, putting a tree that goes against the wall, making trees with different materials and so on, but I really like my old fashioned Christmas tree, so every day I will have to meet this new challenge to maintain my mental health and the good relationship with Tommy that was already getting a little rough because of the tree hahahaha, but I still love him and I understand that he can't help touching so many shiny and hanging things, anyway, wish me luck.

I feel that they get excited a lot. It is like having an exterior tree inside the house, which is an adventure for them. In my house there are trees, my cats are always playing and jumping around.

Esta publicación me hizo el día, casualmente hoy estaba pensando como iba a armar el arbolito de navidad con el terrible de mi gato en casa 🤣. Lo importante es que haya alegría en el hogar durante las celebraciones, ya del resto las decoraciones están de sobra. Saludos!
