Love is like a rose with thorns

Hola chicos, espero que estén muy bien. Hoy me siento bien, bastante contenta, eso me pasa cuando tengo una idea y sale tal cual estaba en mi mente, este fue el caso de este dibujo, como saben estoy intentando practicar un poco mas el tema de hacer flores, en esta oportunidad quise hacer una rosa, pues es una de las flores que más me gusta, además que siento que son un gran reto por todos los pliegues acompañados de luces y sombras que dan como resultado una hermosa flor que aunque no está completamente abierta se puede apreciar con mucho detalle muchos pétalos, es algo realmente hermoso. Como saben también me gusta mucho hacer ojos grandes en mis ilustraciones, ojos que resalten mucho mas que cualquier otra cosa, para mi es muy importante que los ojos sean lo primero en ver cuando realizo un retrato, se me ocurrió hacer este dibujo donde una chica sostiene una rosa y las espinas logran cortar un poco los labios, además de agregar algunas coloraciones en el rostro que den la impresión de que estuvo llorando, pero al mismo tiempo una mirada penetrante y decidida, me tomo varias horas terminar, pero valió mucho la pena porque tiene todos los elementos que me gustan colocar en los retratos, estoy muy satisfecha, espero que les guste.

Today I feel good, quite happy, that happens to me when I have an idea and it comes out just as it was in my mind, this was the case of this drawing, as you know I am trying to practice a little more the theme of making flowers, this time I wanted to make a rose, because it is one of the flowers that I like the most, plus I feel they are a great challenge for all the folds accompanied by lights and shadows that result in a beautiful flower that although it is not completely open you can see in great detail many petals, it is something really beautiful.
As you know I also like to make big eyes in my illustrations, eyes that stand out much more than anything else, for me it is very important that the eyes are the first thing to see when I make a portrait, it occurred to me to make this drawing where a girl holds a rose and the thorns manage to cut a little lips, besides adding some colorations in the face that give the impression that she was crying, but at the same time a penetrating and determined look, it took me several hours to finish, but it was very worth it because it has all the elements that I like to place in the portraits, I am very satisfied, I hope you like it.

Proceso/Process

Primero realice el boceto el cual pase a limpio para trabajar mucho mejor, luego elegí los colores a trabajar, esta vez quería tonos muy desaturados, entre marrones, rosas y verdes, coloque los tonos dejando las luces y sombras en el lugar donde quería, luego añadí una nueva capa para incorporar mas colores al rostro y terminar de formar por completo todo, últimamente estoy trabajando mayormente con pinceles duros, algo que creí que seria imposible pero me ha resultado muy bien, pues intento mezclarlo muy bien pero dejando algo de textura, eso hice con todo el rostro, torso y la mano.

First I made the sketch, which I pass to clean to work much better, then I chose the colors to work, this time I wanted very desaturated tones, between browns, pinks and greens, I placed the tones leaving the lights and shadows where I wanted, then I added a new layer to incorporate more colors to the face and finish forming completely everything, lately I am working mostly with hard brushes, something that I thought would be impossible but has worked very well for me, because I try to mix it very well but leaving some texture, I did that with the whole face, torso and hand.

Después de tener toda la piel lista, comencé a pintar el cabello para esto use un tono verde oscuro, pero luego lo cambie a un tono más oscuro y decidí usar ese tono verde para dar las iluminaciones al cabello, se veía mejor de esta forma, luego pinte con marrón el tallo de la rosa y después aplique algunas luces y sombras para darle volumen, también pinte una gargantilla negra y luego se me ocurrió pintar maquillaje chorreando por el rostro, simulando que estuvo llorando.

After having all the skin ready, I started to paint the hair for this I used a dark green tone, but then I changed it to a darker tone and decided to use that green tone to give the highlights to the hair, it looked better this way, then I painted with brown the stem of the rose and then I applied some highlights and shadows to give it volume, I also painted a black choker and then it occurred to me to paint makeup dripping down the face, simulating that she was crying.

Al estar las espinas en contacto muy cerca de los labios se me ocurrió que cayera sangre de la boca, asi que pinte sangre tanto en los labios como en los dientes, además añadí algunos tonos rojos en los ojos, nariz y mejillas, luego pinte la rosa, usando diferentes tonos rojos para crear cada pliegue, continue añadiendo una capa donde colocaría algunas luces iluminando la nariz, pómulo y ojos. Les cuento que el fondo de la imagen es un cambio que hice a última hora, pues había puesto un fondo marrón oscuro pero estuve pensando durante todo el día que quizás resaltaría mucho mejor todo con un fondo mas claro, asi que ahorita edite el fondo colocando este tono naranja claro, me gusto mas de esta manera, asi que finalice editando la imagen jugando un poco con la herramienta de curvas y añadiendo algunos brochazos en los bordes de la silueta, creando asi un poco de efecto de pintura que tanto me gusta colocar en mis dibujos, pero sin exagerar mucho.

As the thorns are in contact very close to the lips I thought that blood would fall from the mouth, so I painted blood on the lips and teeth, I also added some red tones in the eyes, nose and cheeks, then I painted the rose, using different red tones to create each fold, I continued adding a layer where I would place some lights illuminating the nose, cheekbone and eyes.
I tell you that the background of the image is a change I made at the last minute, because I had put a dark brown background but I was thinking all day that maybe it would stand out much better with a lighter background, so now I edited the background placing this light orange tone, I liked it better this way, so I finished editing the image playing a little with the curves tool and adding some brush strokes on the edges of the silhouette, creating a little painting effect that I like to place in my drawings, but without exaggerating too much.
