The economy is also affecting pet owners

Estamos en una situación bastante complicada y teniendo en cuenta que somos 3 personas mas un gato a veces nos sentimos ahorcados por la economía tan horrible de Venezuela. Durante estos últimos meses la comida y la arena de gato ha subido muchísimo de precio, incluso comprar ambas cosas al mismo tiempo se ha vuelto imposible, he tenido que organizar los dias de manera de que la comida se acabe un dia diferente que la arena jaja, es una locura.

We’re in a pretty tough spot, and considering there are three of us plus a cat, we sometimes feel like we’re being strangled by Venezuela’s terrible economy. Over the past few months, the prices of food and cat litter have skyrocketed—it’s even become impossible to buy both at the same time. I’ve had to plan our days so that the food runs out on a different day than the litter, haha—it’s crazy.

Para el día de hoy comprar ambas cosas da un aproximado de 8700 bolívares que vendrían siendo más de $17 solo por comida, arena y sin contar la carne que le compro especialmente para él, la cual por cierto aun no he podido comprar por falta de presupuesto. Recuerdo que antes solía comprar hasta dos sacos de arena de 5KG y ahora solo puedo comprar uno, asi que el arenero no se llena por completo, pero aun asi sirve esa cantidad.

As of today, buying both items comes to about 8,700 bolivars, which is more than $17 just for food and litter—and that’s not even counting the meat I buy especially for him, which, by the way, I haven’t been able to buy yet due to a lack of funds. I remember that I used to buy up to two 5-kg bags of litter, but now I can only buy one, so the sandbox doesn’t fill up completely, but that amount still works.

Hoy le compré su comida, pero como mencioné no me alcanzo para la carne, dentro de un par de días deberemos cambiar la arena y realmente eso es lo peor ya que la arena es un poco mas costosa que la comida, he intentado con otro tipo de cosas como aserrín que es más económico y según leí en internet es bastante bueno absorbiendo pipi y popo, pero sinceramente la vez que la compre, mi gato y yo sufrimos, quizás no se usarlo pero cada vez que mi gato iba a usar su arenero se botaba todo porque el aserrín no hace peso … En fin, cada día todo se vuelve mas difícil

I bought his food today, but as I mentioned, I can’t afford the meat. In a couple of days we’ll have to change the litter, and that’s really the worst part since the litter is a bit more expensive than the food. I’ve tried other options like wood shavings, which are cheaper and, according to what I read online, are pretty good at absorbing pee and poop, but honestly, the one time I bought it, my cat and I suffered. Maybe I don’t know how to use it, but every time my cat went to use the litter box, everything would spill out because the wood shavings don’t hold their shape… Anyway, every day everything gets harder.

Hay personas que cuando pasa este tipo de situaciones abandonan a sus mascotas pero yo jamás haría eso, al contrario, me esforzare para poder comprarle siempre las cosas a mi gatito…

There are people who abandon their pets when situations like this come up, but I would never do that; on the contrary, I’ll do my best to always be able to buy things for my Kitty…

Oh it's sad! Here also not about the cat's food but the gasoline and diesel price has become higher.
